In the Eastern culture, "nature" not only refers to the wilderness and forest, but also describes a free and simple attitude towards life. Taking the simplistic natural state as the source of beauty, extracting the spiritual essence through the concrete surface, and obeying the philosophy of "Taoist Nature", together constitute the very essence of the ancient Chinese literati spirit. The six artists presented by Soka Art each plays an important role in the international art world. With profound understanding in Eastern culture and Western modern art, each of them explores the possibilities in defining "nature" on the aspects of Eastern and Western philosophy, history and sociology, adding their multi-composite modern translations to the ancient literati spirit.
The Spiritual Freedom in Cynical Realism
Fang Lijun, the representative of China's cynical realism, truly lives as a literati of the current era. His "shaved head" image created in 1988 has effectively attacked the boring, dull and helpless living conditions in Chinese society since the late 1980s, which cynically captures the generational demands for spiritual freedom.

Cynical and poetic humor as a way of spiritual self-liberation is not only a sign of the post-89 period, but even a traditional way of Chinese intellectuals, many examples can be found in Chinese history, especially political high pressure. During the period, such as the scholar-bureaucrats of the Wei and Jin Dynasties, the self-deprecating of the madman, and the way of dealing with high-pressure politics, to achieve self-liberation.

Daniel comes from the world's most respected Chinese art dealer family Eskenazi. The quality of the album published by Eskenazi is always the highest. Every picture is perfect, whether it is lighting, angle or school color.
In Daniel's photographic creation, he manages to use simple composition methods which almost like archaeological investigations, dissecting and dissecting the observation of photographic objects. His photography skills are different from those of Western anti-traditional movements. Daniel's work has a character of humanistic "science". The science is based on the individual's self-consciousness, and it is about the personal cultivation that is carefully analyzed. Daniel, who has been deeply immersed in Chinese culture since he was a child, has accumulated a long history of research on oriental cultural relics, which has given him a very keen observational power and laid the structural strength of the unique visual penetration of his works in the future.

Daniel confesses that he has always been a person who feels the environment with visual depth and often has awe of the world. He is interspersed between various materials, such as insects, marine shellfish, minerals, rocks, landscapes or smog, such as nature, humanities, history and geography, and further sensible and delicate the physical image of these objects. Capture the deep spiritual and philosophical reflections of life and creation. Daniel's creation is like a philosophical thinking. In addition to the emphasis on photography and visual art in the West, Daniel adds the spiritual beliefs of cultural inner cultivation.

Nicolas Chow, the well-known chairman of Sotheby's in Asia, has repeatedly set new auction records for Chinese art.
Nicolas Chow comes from a family with a long history of art. He is a descendant of Chow Ying, an important artist of the Ming Dynasty. The grandfather Edward Chow was named one of the three greatest Chinese collectors after World War II and settled in Geneva, Switzerland. His father Franklin Chow studied at the Academy of the Grande Chaumière in Paris in his early years. After he was 40 years old, he retired from work and went all out to the road of full-time artists. In the environment of deafness, Nicolas Chow grew up in Geneva and was proficient in English and French. He inherits the passion for ancient art of grandfather Edward Chow's and is also deeply influenced by his father Franklin Chow's aesthetic of contemporay art. With these influences, Nicolas sees beauty in an inclusive and comprehensive form. This is perhaps also the reason why Nicolas has repeatedly set the world auction record of Chinese art---because his perception of art is three-dimensional, and it is integrated into ancient and modern times, with no limitations.

The <With Nature> exhbition will feature 8 pieces of photography by Nicolas Chow with each piece cleverly linked to Chinese literati art. Under his lens, "literary art" returns to the intimate feelings between human beings, With a passionate, romantic, and highly appealing lens, Chow combines contemporary photography with literati art, opening up the contemporay interpretations of literati culture.

In the work "A Bamboo-root 'lotus pod' Ruyi Sceptrem, the lotus, which signifies the graceful spirit of purity in the traditional Chinese culture, has tranformed into a gesture and soul through the eyes of Chow. Through the interpretation of light and alternative angles, the artist inspires the liveliness of the lotus, like a pleasant laughter in a stagnation atmosphere.

Hong Ling was born in Beijing in 1955. In the early 1990s, Hong Ling began to set up his own studio in Huangshan. His works combine the traditional Chinese painting style and technical methods in the Western oil painting, creating an aesthetic that is unique to the Chinese culture. For this reason, Hong Ling's work is regarded as the continuation and innovation of Chinese traditional landscape culture.

In many respects, Hong Ling has expressed his tribute to literati artists. The literati artist originated in the Song Dynasty and created many "literati paintings" that are well known to later generations. Most of these artists are scholars, poets, and literati writers from the bureaucracy. These identities can even be traced back to the Han Dynasty. They play a very important role in Chinese art and culture. Hong Ling's works come from Taoist love of nature, and he is eager to get the essence of objects, not the appearance of objects. The natural supremacy of Taoism is also the great spirit pursued by Hong Ling's creation.

Hong Ling once said: "I think people actually come from nature and will eventually return to nature and belong to the soil. In fact, human nature is close to nature. When it comes into contact with it, it will feel more appropriate and more comfortable. I am painting. When I was painting abstractly, I always felt that my heart was unreasonable and my heart was not practical. After I painted the landscape painting, I entered a not very concrete realism, nor an abstraction, but preserved the objective object between the two. More in line with the charm, more in line with the structure, more in line with the mood and heart."

Zhao Meng is familiar with the book of <I Ching>, whose name refers to "the Book of change." Ceramic itself is a medium for "change". Each ceramic is unique through different shaping, glazing ingredients, temperature during firing and other factors. With his love, Zhao Meng continued the ancient Chinese literati's feelings and reinterpreted the ancient pottery in a unique way, which was appreciated by many Western art institutions. Zhao Meng presents the depth of self-culture and uses the vocabulary of art to let more people know the height of Chinese culture.
