2019年2月9日在日本大阪国立国际美术馆开幕的克里斯蒂安 · 波尔坦斯基大型回顾展“一生”，是由该美术馆和东京国立新美术馆以及长崎县美术馆联合举办，这也是日本首次举办波尔坦斯基的大型回顾展。

本次展览跨越了艺术家创作生涯的各个阶段，涵盖了从上世纪70年代至今的众多作品。展览遵从艺术家的想法而设计，如同针对一个空间的一件装置。按照艺术家所说，即是“将整个展览作为一件艺术作品来呈现”。

50年以来，波尔坦斯基始终不断地构筑属于他的宏伟艺术世界，而此次展览正是一次全面展示。

1990年和1991年，波尔坦斯基首次在名古屋当代艺术中心和水户艺术馆举行个展，后多次参加在日本举办的展览，如：越后妻有大地艺术节和濑户内国际艺术节。2016年，艺术家在东京都庭园美术馆举行个展。

除此之外，克里斯蒂安 · 波尔坦斯基还有两件作品永久放置在丰岛及倍乐生艺术角直岛： 

《心之档案》（自2010年）

在位于丰岛王子海滨的美丽白色沙滩上，有一间小小的美术馆，里面保存着《心之档案》（Les Archives du coeur）。作品是波尔坦斯基从2008年就开始收集并记录的来自全世界的心跳声。

《耳语之森》（自2016）

在丰岛上登上檀山的半路中会经过一片森林，林中挂着400只风铃，一有微风拂过便叮当作响。每个风铃上系的透明带上都刻着过往参观者所写的爱的人的名字。风铃声此起彼伏仿佛在诉说灵魂的秘密，向这些记忆中的人们致敬，表达了生命的力量与短暂。新的参观者也受邀留下爱的人的名字。之后这个名字会按照书写者的笔迹刻在风铃上，开始在风中摇摆，成为作品的一部分。

巴黎蓬皮杜艺术中心正在筹备克里斯蒂安 · 波尔坦斯基的大型回顾展，展览将于2019年11月13日至2020年3月16日举办。

Encompassing everything from Christian Boltanski's earliest pieces to his most recent work, this exhibition, jointly organized by the National Museum of Art, Osaka, the National Art Center, Tokyo, and the Nagasaki Prefectural Art Museum, is the first full-scale retrospective of his career to be presented in Japan. 

While looking back at a variety of Boltanski's efforts from the '70s to the present, the retrospective is based on the artist's idea of creating an installation for a space - or he suggests, "presenting an exhibition as a single work of art."

The exhibition will serve as an introduction to Boltanski's magnificent world of art, which he began making over 50 years ago and continues to create today.

After his first Japanese solo exhibition at ICA, Nagoya and Art Tower Mito in 1990 and 1991, Boltanski actively showed his work in the country at events such as the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial and the Setouchi International Art Festival. In 2016, he held a solo exhibition at the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum.

At the Benesse Art site Naoshima, two permanent works by Boltanski are installed on Teshima Island.

- The Heart Archive (Les Archives du c?ur), since 2010

Located on Ojigahama, a beach with beautiful white sand on Teshima, "Les Archives du C?ur" permanently houses recordings of the heartbeats of people recorded throughout the world since 2008. 

- The Forest of Whispers (La f?ret des murmures), since 2016

Halfway up Mt. Danyama on Teshima island, 400 wind chimes are installed in a forest, tinkling in the breeze. On strips of transparent material hanging from each bell are the names of loved ones written by past visitors. The sound of the wind chimes summon up the mystery of the soul, paying homage to the memory of those individuals, expressing both the vitality and transience of human life. New visitors are invited to leave behind the name of a beloved one. At a later date, this name will be engraved on a strip in the visitor's own handwriting, and will start swinging in the breeze, becoming part of the artwork. 

Christian Boltanski is currently preparing a major retrospective at Centre Pompidou, Paris, to be held from November 13, 2019 to March 16, 2020.
