Luís Lázaro Matos的作品常常带着奇幻的意味，在一幅致敬巴伐利亚路德维希二世（1845-86）的作品上，他让这位神秘死亡的国王长出了一条海鳗的手臂。生态学和特定的地缘叙事在Matos的作品中反复出现，2015年他在葡萄牙举办了首场个展，描绘了与当地信仰有关的直布罗陀猴，指涉了与人类如此接近、但基本上是非理性的一种灵长类动物。视频动画《The Nomadic City of Camela》描述了一个在动物的驼峰上建造乌托邦城市的故事。
