On occasion of the National Day and the Golden Week, Don Gallery will be temporarily closed from 30 September to 8 October, wishing every friend a happy holiday. LIU Ren’s solo exhibition “Time” will be reopen on 9 October. Thanks for your kind understanding.

蛋壳是刘任创作中的原始母题之一。在蛋壳内壁抄写英语单词来源于其早期行为，其过程本身能够消解它们的意义。在这一组以《时代》杂志封面为叙事基础的作品中，刘任选择了三家他认为正在控制人类未来发展的科技公司并重复它们的名字，说明科技消费的脆弱性。这三家公司均来自美国。其中阿尔法贝特是谷歌的子公司，太空探索技术于2018年9月17日正式公布首名绕月飞行的乘客——日本富商前沢友作，而苹果的创始人之一史蒂夫·乔布斯本人在过去几十年里曾多次登上《时代》杂志封面。

Egg shell is one of the original motifs in LIU Ren’s practice. Writing English words and vocabularies inside the egg shell is derived from his early performance that the process would deconstruct the meanings. In these works appropriating the narrative of Time magazine cover, LIU Ren selects three technology companies that he finds dominating the future development of human beings. By the repetition of their names, he tries to state how vulnerable the consumerisation of technology is. All three of these companies are US-based, among which Alphabet is the parent company of Google, SpaceX announces the first private passenger for moon trip on 17 September 2018—Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa, while Apple has one of its founders Steve Jobs pictured on the cover of Time repeatedly in the past few decades.
