Climate Change? Let’s talk about it!
长期以来,人们都认为天气是无法改变的,更别说是去破坏了;然而伴随着人类战争史的演进,掌握气象知识、把控气候因素的影响逐渐成为了左右战局的重要因素。很快一个大胆的设想就诞生了:或许我们能够改变并且利用天气?在自己的战争之上,人们开始了全新的与天气的战斗。
Weather is part of the Earth and has always been. It was part of what humans thought they couldn’t impact on, let alone destroy. But now we do. The possibility of weather control directly related to war. Controlling the weather information could lead to the fatal difference between winner and loser.

新的技术与变革很快就被应用在农业生产上,例如通过在云层中播种干冰或碘化银的人工降雨方法对付干旱。甚至在“冷战”时期,疯狂科学家们也畅想着自己的冷战——在冰层上投放原子弹从而让碎冰滑进大洋带动海啸,使得北冰洋的温度慢慢传递到地球各个角落。然而很快,人类发现无需军事干预,北冰洋的冰川已经在融化了,随着全球变暖,如今,人类同天气的战斗转向了为稳定地球气候而实施的人工气候改造计划,也就是俗称的改造地球气候问题的地球工程学。
Weather control was mostly applied to agriculture as a means of combating drought through seeding clouds with dry ice or silver iodide. But scientists had even bigger ambitions, like during the Cold War time, scientists proposed dropping nuclear bombs on ice sheets to make them slide into the ocean and spread arctic temperatures to extended earthsurface. Such super science project, also called Geo-engineering, provide the climate problems on Earth a Quick Fix, is also fascinating and scaring to imagine the future of our planet.

在上海民生现代美术馆即将于2017年3月4日开幕的“天气大战”展览就着力于通过行动以及视觉语言表达地球工程学在极地地区和灾害天气中所呈现的努力。艺术家马慈·贝格特 (Mats Bigert) 和拉瑟·贝格斯特姆(Lars Bergstr?m) (B&B)在《不喜欢天气,就改变它》飞上蓝天向云层播散干冰;在《风暴》中用转向器装置阻止龙卷风;在《冰封》中,B&B给瑞典最高峰的凯布纳山南峰加盖遮光毯,以保护冰川。这些看似单纯、天真的行为,却是真实的在极地和灾害性频发地区科学家们的努力奋斗。
In our exhibition The Weather War, we could follow the artists Bigert&Bergstr?m’s manipulation on weather through actions of geo-engineering experiments. The tornado diverter that aims to stop the tornado and the Glacier Blanket that aims to save ice peak on Sweden’s highest mountain from melting. These works trigger our fascination on what exactly the geo-engineering means in combating Climate Change.

有没有比干冰更好的人工降雨物质?“龙卷风转向器”可以阻止龙卷风吗?遮光毯能阻止冰川融化吗?北极冰川融化和发生在上海的事情有关系吗?气候变化,到底是怎么回事?对于我们,生活在越来越远离自然的高度城市化发展中的当下,雾霾、沙尘暴、极端天气…是天气灾害最明显的感受,有什么超级科技能帮助我们改变这一切吗?还是答案在我们自身的行动中?
When we talk about Climate Change, when and how it started. China’s fast growing economy today has increased our living standard dramatically, but the downside of the growth are also very worrying: air pollution, environmental problems and extreme weather disasters. What can we do to improve our air quality? Can we only rely on technology to save us? Why does Arctic ice melting also concern our environment?

2017年3月11日下午2点在上海民生现代美术馆二楼多媒体教室,汇总征集的读者提问,两位关注极地、气候与环境的学者Iselin Stensdal、蒋平和我们聊聊气候变化和地球工程学的科学探索和民间行动。同时,我们发起了这场关于气候变化问题的“地球那些事儿——逆转地球工程学”专题活动,携手博物课堂向各位小小科学家、创想搞怪客征集问题和方案,你的妙评金句、奇思妙想甚至是改变气候的地球工程学方案都会被认真对待。

In collaboration with one of China’s leading science magazines for youth and children, Bo Wu, the youth edition of National Geography China, we will host a seminar where our audiences and the magazine’s readers could raise questions on Climate Change directly to the experts in this area. We are very pleased to have Mr. Ping Jiang, from the Fudan University in conversation with Ms. Iselin Stensdal, the visiting scholar of the Nordic Center FuDan University. Together, let’s talk about Climate Change!

▍关于嘉宾
伊思琳(Iselin Stensdal)
伊思琳(Iselin Stensdal)是挪威弗雷德弗 南森 研究所的研究员,全球项目规划总监。她拥有挪威奥斯陆大学东亚研究所硕士学位,并在上海复旦大学深造中文。她的研究领域主要包括中国环境和气候政策,中国能源安全政策和环境污染的后果和对策。她的研究范围也包括亚太地区与北极策略的关系,完成了诸多亚洲国家的北极研究调查,发表著作《亚洲国家与北极的未来》。她目前在复旦大学北欧中心做访问学者。
Iselin Stensdal is a research fellow and director of the Global Programmeat the Fridtjof Nansen Institute. She has a Master degree in Asian Studies from the University of Oslo, Norway (2010) and also studied Chinese at Fudan University, Shanghai, China. As part of the Asi Arctic programme she covers extractive industries in the Arctic, and has also completed quantified surveys of the Asian countries' Arctic research. Her research areas include Chinese environmental and climate policy, Chinese energy security policy and Asian interest in the Arctic. Her publication includes Asian Countries and the Arctic Future ( 2016, Singapore, World Scientific Publishing). She is also a visiting scholar at the Nordic Centre Fudan University.
蒋平(Dr. Ping Jiang)
蒋平博士是复旦大学环境科学与工程系副教授,他也是复旦丁铎尔中心主任助理。他主要从事气候变化与大气污染控制协同效应以及环境可持续发展研究。自2012年入职复旦大学以来,主持参与了低碳可持续性、气候变化和环境管理方面的研究和教学工作。蒋平副教授2010年在英国东英吉利大学(University of East Anglia)获得环境科学博士学位,2010-2012年在日本的联合国大学从事博士后研究工作。
Dr. Ping Jiang is the Associate Professor of the Department of Environmental Science & Engineering and the Director Assistant of Fudan Tyndall Centre. His research interests focus on the co-benefits of global climate change mitigation and local air pollution control policies in term of sustainable development in China. Since 2012 when he worked for Fudan University, he has undertaken studies and teaching on the low carbon sustainability, climate change, and environmental management. Before he started his job at Fudan University, he got his Ph.D of Environmentla Sciences at the University of East Anglia in England in 2010, and did his postdoc research at the United Nationa University in Japan between 2010 and 2012.
