由余海波、余天琦导演的纪录片《中国梵高》（China's Van Goghs）是2016年阿姆斯特丹国际纪录片电影节（IDFA）全景单元入围影片，曾获得亚洲阳光纪录片节“最佳中国项目”、广州纪录片大会、CCTV9 China Pitch“最佳提案”。该片讲述了世界最大的油画复制工厂- 深圳大芬油画村的农民画工，在多年复制西方经典油画之后，如何面对现实、面对自我以及艺术追求的多重选择。大芬油画村诞生于1989年，这里的画工们从农村进入城市，与油画中的欧洲文化结缘，将个人命运与欧洲绘画相连接，拓展人生旅途的梦想。梵高一生只卖一幅画，而以赵小勇、周永久为例的大芬画工们，在过去的20多年里，手工复制并卖出几十万副梵高作品，销售世界各地。然而对他们来说，梵高不仅是解决温饱，维持生计的求生手段，梵高的经历和对艺术的执着也是一直支撑、激励着他们去思考和追寻自己理想的精神支柱。当大家仍把大芬看成一个复制工厂时，这些画工已慢慢的从复制中转型。《中国梵高》记录了大芬画工转型的路途中所遇到的困难、挣扎，绝望与希望，个人理想与现实生活的碰撞。大芬画工的转型同时映射了21世纪中国从“中国制造”到“中国创造” 转型中的复杂，也思考了当代主流艺术圈的排他性，和社会赋予艺术价值的荒诞性。12月17日，该片导演余天琦以及电影学者汤惟杰将与余德耀美术馆的观众们分享纪录片《中国梵高》并解读其中的片段。

余天琦

余天琦，学者／电影人。现任上海交?——美国南加州?学文化创意产业学院电影研究副教授，伦敦西敏寺大学艺术媒体研究中心博士，剑桥大学社会学专业硕士。2016纪录?《中国梵高》入选阿姆斯特丹国际纪录片电影节全景单元，获得Bertha基?；2015年纪录片《中国梵高》获得荷兰国家电影基?；2014年深圳文化基金、入选阿姆斯特丹国际纪录片电影节圆桌提案、亚洲阳光纪录片电影节 “最佳中国项目” ；2013年《中国梵高》获CCTV 9 四川国际纪录?电视节、广州国际纪录片大会‘最佳提案’；2008-2011年获得英国国家艺术人文研究机构全额奖学金；2008年纪录片《梦寻深圳》 获英国大学生电影节评委最高奖和最佳纪录片；2007年Discovery探索频道新锐导演奖。

Following its World Premiere at the International Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam, Trouw magazine praised China’s Van Goghs as “very touching”, while de Volkskrant hailed “an equally shocking as inspiring experience.” China’s Van Goghs, directed by Yu Haibo and Yu Tianqi, is a portrait of peasant-painters in Dafen, Southern China, who labour intensively to produce copies of Western masterpieces for stores such as Walmart. The painters we meet have made thousands of copies of Van Gogh’s works over the last two decades, yet they have never seen an original Van Gogh painting. One of the painters, Zhao, is determined to see the original works of his hero, and China’s Van Goghs follows him on his journey to Amsterdam to see the Van Gogh’s paintings with his own eyes. The filmmakers capture his reactions as he experiences an epiphany, and meditates on the meaning of Van Gogh’s work as well as the value of his own art. While everyone regard s Dafen as a ‘copy factory’, the peasant-painters slowly accomplished their transition. China’s Van Goghs is a carefully rendered, closely observed, and profoundly moving portrait of a copy maker immersing himself in the work of one of the greatest artists the world has ever known. We witness him empathising with Van Gogh’s tragic life and glorious struggles, and seeking his own destiny, in an unforgettable documentary. The transition of Dafen painters also mirrors the complexity of transition from ‘made in China’ to ‘create by China’ in the 21century. On December 17th, director Yu Tianqi and film scholar Tang Weijie will discuss the film and the contemporary art market with you face to face in Yuz Museum.
