5月18日，新时线媒体艺术中心（CAC）春季展览《生长》将呈现生长的惊喜 —— 梁绍基装置作品 “听蚕/自然系列No.96” 将引入蚕虫，观众可在5月18日至5月28日期间聆听并观察蚕吐丝、结茧与蝶化的过程，体验一番生命的活力。

蚕的生命从出蚁至蝶化仅50天左右，形态看似微小脆弱，却是艺术家梁绍基自89年开始在其艺术实践中持续探索的对象。他以蚕的整个生命历程为媒介，以与自然互动为特征，以时间与生命为核心，在艺术与科学、装置与雕塑、多媒体行为艺术的临界点上持续地进行“自然系列”的创作达30年之久。

“自然系列”中的“听蚕”将蚕虫食桑吐丝的声音借由拾音器实时播放，带给观众悠远空茫的听觉体验以及对“禅”的领悟。而将活跃期的蚕虫置入簇具上后，观众得以观察到蚕生长、蜕变、生成的形态切片和其生命意志堆砌的纪念碑，以及艺术家与蚕共舞的冥想，换而言之，静态装置通过“生长”这一行为转变为“过程艺术”。

CAC·Growing | May, the moments when silkworms produce silk and turn into cocoons...

On May 18, Chronus Art Center (CAC) spring exhibition Growing will present the amazement of life growth -- Listen to the Silkworms / Nature Series No.96, an installation made by LIANG Shaoji, will incorporate a group of live silkworms that brings viewers the experience of vigorous life through the process of producing silk, cocooning and metamorphosis between May 18 and 28.

A silkworm has a fleeting life lasting only 50 days from larvae to butterfly. Despite its tiny and weak form, silkworm has been the exploratory subject for artist LIANG Shaoji since 1989. He has used the silkworm lifecycle as the medium, the interaction with nature as the defining characteristics, the notion of time and life as the core values to continuously, for as long as thirty years, create the “nature series” at the intersection of art and science, and within a liminal space between installation, sculpture, and multimedia art.

Listen to the Silkworms, one of the pieces in the Nature Series, playing the rustling of silkworms eating leaves and producing silk picked up in real-time, brings viewers an audio experience of Zen. The live silkworms placed in the installation will help the viewers reflect on the silkworms' growth, transformation, as well as production, and stand as a monument to their will to live and a meditation on the shared dance between the artist and silkworms. In other words, the still installation became a “process art” through “growing”.

The growing process of the silkworms will be on view between May 18 and 28.
