The Series of Figures Oil Painting

苏新平的艺术观念是建立在对人生反思的基础上。2019年以来新创作的一系列油画人物作品，基本上延续了他的艺术创作脉络，通过讨论人与自然、人与人、人与社会的关系，试图揭示今天跨越式发展的社会背景之下人的生存状态和精神状态——有如逃离于欲望之海后的自省与对话，又如觉醒的思索与纠结的意象性表达。最终艺术家想要追寻的不是基于对现实世界的关照，而将人的状态、社会状态具有的变化多端的潜能激发出来，借助语言的虚构和过程的随机，通过对语言的单纯性和纯粹性的表达呈现出来。虽然作品采用象征性手法和书写性的笔法将作品内涵引向模糊和不确定，似乎指涉你、我、他的现实选择与处境，实则更多的是对自身存在与在场的真实表达，揭示出我对当代社会及文化问题的关注与思考。

Su Xinping’s view of art is based on his reflection of life. The new series of figures oil painting series created in 2019 is a continuation of his art creation. Through the investigation of relations between human and nature, human and human, as well as individual and society, he tries to discover the living and mental status of individuals in today’s forward-leaping society. These paintings seem to be an introspection and conversation after breaking away from the enchanting desire, or an imagery expression of enlightenment between pondering and hesitation. Ultimately, the artist does not seek to care for the real world. Instead, he aspires to evoke the different possibilities in the states of individuals and of society and present them through the simplicity and purity of language with the help of virtual language and random process. The symbolic and graphological approaches lead the work into obscurity and uncertainty. It seems to be referring to the current choice and status of you, me and him/her, while actually it is an honest expression of one self’s existence and presence, disclosing the artist’s attention to and considerations on the contemporary society and its cultural issues.

苏新平，1960年生于内蒙古集宁市，1977年入部队服兵役，1983年毕业于天津美术学院绘画系，毕业后在内蒙古师范大学美术系任教。1989年毕业于中央美术学院版画系，获得硕士学位，并留校任教。现为中央美术学院副院长、教授。兼任中国美术家协会版画艺委会主任、北京美术家协会副主席。曾获第七届全国美术作品展铜奖、联合国教科文组织“艺术促进奖”提名奖、鲁迅版画奖等。2011年被评为北京市第七届教学名师，2014年获得“第八届AAC艺术中国年度艺术家·油画类大奖”，2015年获“四个一批人才”称号。作品曾被大英博物馆、牛津大学阿什莫林博物馆、德国路德维希美术馆、美国波特兰美术馆、美国旧金山博物馆、日本福冈美术馆、澳大利亚国家博物馆、中国美术馆、上海美术馆、中央美术学院美术馆等收藏。
