《遭遇》encounter

该作品将几种日常物质以组合的方式模拟了一次被各种非自然外力所扭曲的生命历程。它由现成人工物与自然物彼此嫁接建构,形成了一个类似反纪念碑的雕塑。作品中模拟生命轨迹的人工物是一根造型扭曲的钢筋,它来自于2017年初上海近郊一处大型农贸市场的拆迁现场;而象征生命起点与终点的赤裸虚空形态则被两个自然植物椰子壳所填充。
The work simulates a life journey distorted by various unnatural forces by combining several daily substances. It is constructed by grafting ready-made artifacts and natural objects onto each other to form a sculpture resembling an anti-monument. The artificial object simulating the life track in the work is a twisted steel bar. It comes from the demolition site of a large farmers' market near Shanghai in early 2017. The naked void form symbolizing the beginning is filled with two shells of coconuts, which grow naturally.

2019年初,我在上海佘山附近所租的一处堆放材料的的仓库遭遇拆迁,在多次搬迁往返的过程中,我发现原本在仓库门口的一棵大樟树被依次锯成几段,散落在拆迁现场,最后逐渐成为拆迁工人干活之后休息吃饭的座椅。
At the beginning of 2019, a warehouse that I rented near She Shan in Shanghai was demolished. In the process of multiple relocations, I found that a big camphor tree that used to be at the entrance of the warehouse was sawed into several sections and scattered on the demolition site. Finally, it gradually became a seat for workers to rest and eat after work.

此作品将娱乐使用的扑克牌中分别象征大卫,亚力山大,凯撒,查理曼四位帝王的4张K放入由lKEA桌面、消防喷头与肥皂盒组合而成的容器内部。
The work is comprised of four poker cards, which separately symbolize those four Kings: David, Alexandria, Caesar, and Charlemagne, and placed in a container made up of a combination of IKEA tabletop, fire sprinkler, and soapbox.

关于艺术家
高磊1980年生于湖南长沙,2006年毕业于中央美术学院数码媒体专业,现生活工作于上海。
高磊的创作主要关于如何将当下个体意志与社会系统之间的对抗与冲突以一种充满秩序性、冷静且非暴力的物化景观呈现。他广泛撷取极为生活化的对象作为创作媒材,并借用日常产品的“标准化”为元素,一方面指涉井然有序的社会系统,藉由物体间相互连接、制约所产生的矛盾与落差去描绘个体与权力之间的对峙进程;另一方面又使作品中那些被物化的权力标本或个体纪念碑中呈现出一种物质脱离功能性与日常损耗后而进入的虚拟恒定模式。
Gao Lei was born in Changsha, Hunan Province in 1980. He graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2006 majoring in Digital Media. He now lives and works in Shanghai.
Gao Lei's practice encompasses on the confrontation and conflict between the current individual will and the social system with a materialized landscape that is orderly, calm and non-violent. He draws on the incredibly life objects as the medium and borrows the “standardization” of everyday products as an element. On the one hand, it refers to a well-ordered social system, and to depict the confrontation process between the individual and the power by using the contradictions and gaps caused by the interconnection and restriction between objects. On the other hand, the materialized specimens or individual monuments in the works show a virtual constant pattern in which the material enters from the functional and daily wear.
