利东画廊是奥地利最大的专注摄影的专业画廊，拥有数逾12万的收藏级照片和多套极为罕见的整组展览原件。我们的摄影藏品与展览项目广泛涵盖了摄影史上最卓越的创造成果——从19、20世纪的原版杰作到最具标志性的艺术摄影作品和纪实摄影经典，直至当代先锋摄影佳作。利东画廊曾为包括荒木经惟、任航、Juergen Teller, Wim Wenders 和Julian Schnabel在内的知名艺术家呈现各类展览项目，同时独家代理一系列当代摄影新星及知名青年艺术家。

利东画廊由摄影家、收藏家皮特·科埃先生创建。同样由其所创办的利西摄影美术馆凭借高水平的摄影展览和独一无二的古董相机收藏吸引着全世界的摄影爱好者和观众；世界闻名的利西影像拍卖会每年两次为藏家提供艺术摄影经典之作。

荒木经惟，1940年出生于日本东京，是当今最激进、最具影响力的摄影师之一，在当代艺术领域也是举足轻重的人物。他通过摄影发展出一套独一无二的视觉语言，诗意地描绘出一种超越日本文化的人性和感情。荒木经惟发明了“摄影自我”的概念，将虚构、现实、欲望之间的有趣互动用影像进行表现。

Xiomara Bender，1987年出生于瑞士巴塞尔，现居柏林，因其精准的视觉语言在摄影界为人所知。她在非常年轻的时候就已经开始着迷于更大的世界并四处旅行，17岁时离开家乡远居印度并在那里完成高中学业，此后移居柏林。在其旅行过程中，Xiomara秉持共情和尊敬的心态记录下日常处境中的人。她的影像作品因其谦逊真实的记录方式和她对陌生土地及文化的热情而独具魅力。

Alison Jackson，1960年出生于英国，毕业于英国电影电视艺术学院。她是在国际上屡获大奖的艺术家，因其对名人效应（一种由媒体、公关行业以及公众人物自身所创造的非凡效应）的恶搞型创作而闻名。她的作品直接挪用和再现了当今社会中的虚假新闻、小道消息或新闻争端。寻找与国际名流相貌相似的普通人，经过巧妙的装扮和设计，用以假乱真的现实风格影像创造出社会各界名人私下生活被偷拍的种种场面。让形似者变为真身，让幻想令人信服——杰克森创造出了一系列我们一直在想象却从未眼见为实的情节和场景。

OstLicht. Gallery has established itself as the leading Austrian gallery dealing exclusively with photography. With more than 120,000 extensive holdings and spectacular convolutes on diverse themes, our photo collection and exhibition program covers a broad range of the finest creations in the history of the medium: from vintage masterworks of the 19th and 20th century, iconic fine art photographs and classics of photo journalism to cutting edge contemporary artists. The gallery has housed comprehensive exhibitions by the likes of Nobuyoshi Araki, Ren Hang, Juergen Teller, Wim Wenders and Julian Schnabel. We also exclusively represent a range of contemporary shooting stars and emerging photographers.

OstLicht. Gallery was founded by collector and photo enthusiast Peter Coeln. He is also the founder and driving force of the WestLicht. Museum for Photography, whose exhibition programme and unique collection of historic cameras attracts visitors from all over the world, and the WestLicht Photo Auction, which twice a year offers masterpieces of fine art photography and rare vintage cameras and has built a history of record-breaking results.

OstLicht. Gallery will present works from artists Nobuyoshi Araki, Xiomara Bender, Alison Jackson, Ernst Haas, Nan Goldin, Jeanloup Sieff at 2019 PHOTOFAIRS | Shanghai.

Nobuyoshi Araki was born in Minowa, Tokyo, in 1940. He undisputedly ranks among the most radical and influential photographers of our time and is regarded as an important figure in current art sphere far beyond the area of photography. In his photographs, Araki developed a unique visual handwriting, creating a poetic portrayal of human passion which points beyond Japanese culture. He invented the concept of the “photographic ego”, signifying the intriguing interplay between fiction, fact and desire.

Xiomara Bender, born in 1987 in Basel and now living in Berlin, is known for her unmistakable visual language. She has already developed a fascination for the world and travelling it at a young age. When she was 17 she left her home country to live in India and finish high school there, before later on moving to Berlin. During her travels, Bender documents people in everyday situations, always with empathy and respect. Xiomara Bender‘s creative work is characterized by an unpretentious and authentic approach to documenting people around the world and her passion for foreign lands and culture.

Alison Jackson, born in 1960, is a contemporary BAFTA and multi-award-winning artist who explores the cult of celebrity?– an extraordinary phenomenon created by the media,?publicity industries and the public figures themselves. Her work sits squarely in the middle of the current fake news, alternative facts or news debates.?Jackson makes convincingly realistic work about celebrities doing things in private using cleverly styled lookalikes. Likeness becomes real and fantasy touches on the believable. She creates scenarios we have all imagined but never seen before.

Ernst Haas (1921–1986) is acclaimed as one of the most celebrated and influential photographers of the 20th century and considered one of the pioneers of colour photography. Haas was born in Vienna in 1921 and took up photography after the war. He joined Magnum in 1949 at the invitation of Robert Capa. Haas moved to the United States in 1951 and become the premier colour photographer of the 1950s. In 1953 LIFE magazine published his groundbreaking 24-page colour photo essay on New York City. This was the first time such a large colour photo feature was published by LIFE. Throughout his career, Haas travelled extensively, photographing for LIFE, Vogue, and Look, to name a few of many influential publications.

Nan Goldin, born in 1953, is an American photographer known for her deeply personal and candid portraiture. Goldin's intimate images act as a visual autobiography documenting herself and those closest to her, especially in the marginal community and subculture. She lives and works in New York City, Berlin, and Paris.

Jeanloup Sieff (1933-2000) was born in Paris, France and was known for his sensuous black-and-white nudes, portraits of artists and politicians, fashion photography, and surrealist-inflected landscapes. Influenced by the new-wave filmmakers of the 1950s, Sieff developed a style characterized by clean, modern elegance, capturing long bare backs, sumptuous curves, and ladies’ lingerie. Sieff worked for Elle and the Magnum Agency, and his work has appeared in Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, among other publications.
