传统器物之美影响了一代又一代艺术家以及他们艺术创作。此次“我自然”展览中，有两位独特的艺术家，他们在收藏界的名声如雷贯耳，对传统器物的喜爱和研究更是常人无法比拟。然而此次，他们将以艺术家的身份出现，将自己多年的独特审美转换为艺术语言呈现在大家面前。

The beauty of traditional artifacts has influenced generations of artists and their artistic creations. This time in "With Nature", there will be two special artists. Their reputation in the collection industry is so big and their passion for traditional artifacts are spectacular. However this time, they will appear as artists, transforming their unique aesthetics for many years into languages.

丹尼尔·埃斯卡纳齐是一位特殊的摄影艺术家，他出生于传奇的埃斯卡纳齐（Eskenazi）家族，是朱塞佩·埃斯卡纳齐之子（Giuseppe Eskenazi）。丹尼尔从小便在父亲的艺廊工作，并在伦敦大学亚非学院修习一年中国艺术的课程。之后进入苏富比，用一年的时间熟悉艺术品拍卖市场。下一个课程是进入西方艺术品的中转站——香港，在那里呆了一年，亲历中西方艺术品整个经销的过程。

Daniel Eskenazi is a special photography artist born in the legendary Eskenazi family. When Daniel was young, he began to work with his father, the legendary Giuseppe Eskenazi. After attending a year of Chinese art at the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London(SOAS), he entered Sotheby's and spent a year getting familiar with the auction market. The next course is at a transit point for Western art, Hong Kong, where he stayed for a year and experienced the entire distribution of Chinese and Western art.

丹尼尔对中式家具情有独钟，自己也将埃斯卡纳齐的商业版图扩展到水墨、中式家具等，自2006年就陆续为张洪（Arnold Chang）、李华一、曾小俊等艺术家做展览。在这个越来越困难的艺术品行业，丹尼尔这些年来的成绩非常亮眼。此次，他却以艺术家的身份参加展览，对视觉十分敏感的丹尼尔，也将会从自己对世界的独特视角出发，引领我们进入他的摄影世界。

Daniel is fond of Chinese furnitures and has also extended the business map of Eskenazi to ink painting and Chinese furniture. Since 2006, he has been exhibiting for artists such as Arnold Chang, Li Huayi and Zeng Xiaojun. In this increasingly difficult art industry, Daniel's performance over years has been very eye-catching. This time in Soka Art, he participated in the exhibition as an artist. Daniel, who is very sensitive to the vision, will also lead us into his world of photography from a unique perspective of the world.

除了来自世界重要古董商的家族养成之外，丹尼尔的摄影技巧主要还是自学成才。他最开始接触摄影来自于家族事业的需要，因为他们每年都会为古董拍摄图录、出版画册。Eskenazi出版的画册，品质永远是最高的，每一张都图片都无懈可击，不论是灯光，角度，校色，都无可挑剔。这一切美感呈现，都来自于丹尼尔对于美与自然的极高追求。

In addition to the family influence from the world's biggest antique dealers, Daniel's photography skills are mainly self-taught. The first contact with photography came from the needs of the family business. Eskenazi's photographes and publishes albums for antiques every year. Eskenazi's catalogues are always of the highest quality, and each picture is perfect. Whether it is lighting, angle, school color, all are impeccable. But after all, Daniel should be credited with the aesthetics and his high pursuit of beauty and nature.

人文的「理学」

Humanistic Science

不同于西方反传统运动的艺术推展，我们还可以把丹尼尔的作品当成是一种人文的「理学」，理学建立在个体的自觉之上，讲求的是细密分析出的个人修养。他的作品凝结时间，有时候甚至没有真实的拍摄对象，所有的画面都由光与影构成；以光线描绘拍摄物体，再进一步决定是否彰显特定的局部细节。即便没有明显的拍摄对象，丹尼尔的作品却另转为一个发人深省的载体，再拆解塬有形象的限制中，将更为抽象性质的思想内容，导入给群众，这个部分也是他摄影中的观察重点。

Different from the artistic development of Western anti-traditional movements, we can also regard Daniel's works as a kind of humanistic science. The science is based on individual's self-consciousness, and it is about the personal cultivation that is carefully analyzed. His works condense time, sometimes without real subjects, all of which consist of light and shadow. Even if there are no obvious subjects, Daniel's work has turned into a thought-provoking carrier, and then dismantled the limitations of the image, introducing the more abstract ideological content to the masses. This part is also a key observation in his photography.

摄影不仅来自幻想或幻象的吸引，更多是来自真实世界的激情。无论是书法文字、山水图画、器物型制甚至哲学思想等，自小就深受中华文化薰陶的丹尼尔，通过长时间对东方文物研究的经验累积，具备了非常敏锐的观察力，这也奠定了他作品独特的穿透力。他周旋于各种材料之间，如昆虫、海洋贝类、矿物、山石、风景或是烟雾等自然、人文、历史以及地理学科领域，并进一步将这些对象原有的物理性质形象感性化，细腻的捕捉出生命与创造的深层精神和哲学思考。丹尼尔的创作一如哲学人般的思考，在西方强调摄影技巧与视觉艺术主导的体制之外，更添加文化内在修养的精神信仰特质。

Photography is not only about the attraction of fantasy or illusion, but also the passion of the real world. Whether it is calligraphy, landscape painting, traditional objects or even philosophical thoughts, Daniel, who has been deeply immersed in Chinese culture since childhood, has accumulated a keen eye for his long experience in the study of oriental cultural relics thus creating unique penetrating power in his works. He is interspersed between various materials and different subjects, such as nature, humanities, history and geography, and further captures the physical image of these objects delicately. Daniel's creation is like a philosophical thinking, in addition to the emphasis on photography and visual art in the West, Daniel adds the spiritual beliefs of cultural inner cultivation.

此次展览内容也是艺术家运用哲学论辩的方式，对一些高度抽象的理论或物象进行探索，藉以树立与摄影艺术先前截然不同的思想内涵。

In this exhibition, we can also see that Daniel uses philosophical arguments to explore some highly abstract theories or objects, in order to establish a different ideological connotation from the photographic art.

身为苏富比亚洲区主席和中国艺术品部国际主管及主席的仇国仕，是中国艺术品拍卖场上的叱咤风云的人物。他也是众多天价拍品的重要推手，屡创世界纪录，其中包括2017年以2.9亿港元成交的北宋汝窑天青釉洗（创中国瓷器世界拍卖纪录）、2014年以2.8亿港元成交的明成化斗彩鸡缸杯（刷新当时的瓷器拍卖纪录）。

As the chairman of Sotheby's Asia and the international director and chairman of the Chinese Art Department, Nicolas Chow is a stalwart figure in the Chinese art auction. He is also an important promoter of many high-priced auctions and has set many world records, including the Song Dynasty kiln azure glaze wash for HK$290 million in 2017 (created in china's world auction record) and Meiyintang Chicken Cup from the Chinese Ming Dynasty for HK$280 million in 2014 (renewing the porcelain auction record at the time).

仇国仕来自一个历史悠久的艺术世家，他是明代重要艺术家仇英的后人。祖父为仇焱之，二战后最伟大的三位华人收藏家之一，晚年定居瑞士日内瓦。父亲仇大雄早年在巴黎大茅舍艺术学院学习，40岁后从工作退休，全心走向专职艺术家道路。在耳濡目染的环境中，仇国仕从小在日内瓦长大，精通英法中文，他右脑沁入在祖父仇焱之对中国古董器物的古美术中，左脑又深受父亲仇大雄对当代艺术的审美薰陶。也让他对美感的认知更包容宽广，更层次丰厚。

Nicolas comes from a family with a long history related to art. He is a descendant of Qiu Ying, one of the most important artist of the Ming Dynasty. His grandfather is Edward Chow, one of the three greatest Chinese collectors after World War II, who settled in Geneva, Switzerland. His father is Franklin Chow, who studied at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris in his early years. After Fanklin was 40 years old, he retired from work and became a full-time artist. As a result, Nicolas grew up in Geneva and is proficient in English, French and Chinese. His right brain is influenced by the ancient art of his grandfather's passion of Chinese antiques whild the left was deeply influenced by his father's aesthetic art. All these experiences make him have more inclusive and richer understanding of aesthetic sense.

此次带来的8件仇国仕摄影作品，摄影对象源于陈仁毅先生多年珍藏的古代中国艺术品。一位是浸淫中国古代艺术超过三十年的国际知名资深专家，一位是全球拍卖公司首屈一指的大人物，这样的组合让人不禁期待万分。

The eight pieces of photographs brought by Nicolas this time are based on the collections that belongs to Jerry Chen many years ago. One is an internationally renowned senior collector who has been immersed in ancient Chinese art for more than 30 years, and the other is the leading figure in the global auction company. This combination makes people have extremely high expectations.

仇国仕的眼睛带有温度，他透过自己的双眼，将器物的美好本质和纯粹质感传递给所有人。有着别具一格的摄影思维，亦真亦假，如梦如幻，生生不息，永无止尽。捕捉形影一刹那，收罗景象万圆方，仿佛在拍摄一个梦境。他巧妙的用摄影将传统内敛的中国文人艺术转成了一种充满立体感，多面向，富有热烈感情的表达。

The eyes of Nicolas are temperature-bearing. Through his eyes, he conveys the beautiful essence and pure texture of the utensils to everyone. It has a unique photographic thinking, and it is both true and false. The work is like a dream, a dream that will never end. He captures the shadow for a moment as if shooting a dream. Nicolas skillfully used photography to transform the traditional introverted Chinese literati art into a three-dimensional, multi-faceted, passionate expression.

如此次作品中的「莲蓬」，在传统中国寓意中，莲有出淤泥而不染的雅致精神，然而透过仇国仕的眼睛，莲变得有了姿态与灵魂，艺术家透过光线与另一种角度的诠释，将莲的活泼激发了出来，有如在闷滞的气氛中，注入了爽朗的笑声。在仇国仕的镜头下，「文人艺术」回到人与人之间的亲密情感，有了七情六欲，充满浪漫，极富有高感染力的镜头，结合了当代摄影与文人艺术，开拓当代新的文人品味。

In the traditional Chinese culture, the lotus has a graceful spirit which lives in the silt but not imbrued. In the "A Bamboo-root 'lotus pod' Ruyi Sceptre", through the eyes of Nicolas, the lotus has become a gesture and soul. The artist inspired the liveliness of the lotus through the light and another angle of interpretation. It's like a laughter in the atmosphere of stagnation. Under the lens of Nicolas, "literarati art" returns to the intimate feelings between people. With a passionate, romantic, and highly appealing lens, he combines contemporary photography with literati art to open up a new contemporary literate taste.

电影质感

A texture of the big screen

在仇国仕的摄影作品中，有时会感受到一丝阴郁的氛围。他十二三岁的时候就喜欢上了摄影，也喜欢拍小电影，特别是恐怖电影。所以仇国仕拍出的照片和我们平常看到的完全不同，带有强烈又特别的冲击力，有电影的质感。

Sometimes we can fell a gloomy atmosphere in Nicolas's photography. When he was twelve or three years old, he liked photography and had interests in making small movies, especially horror ones. Therefore, the photos taken by Nicolas are with strong and special impact and the texture of the film, completely different from what we usually see.

“面对一件器物，每个人对它的理解和与其联系的方式均有所不同。有点像精神分析（psychoanalysis），这些方式都能反映个人精神面貌，通往你的内心深处。这就是我为什么这么喜欢奇石奇木的原因，当你看到他们，真的可以很深度地发掘到内心深处。”

“When you face an object, everyone understands and communicates with it in a different way. It is a bit like psychoanalysis, which reflects individual's spiritual outlook and leads to your heart. This is why I like stonewares and woodwares so much. When you see them, you can really discover your heart in depth."

摄影是个人的哲学，他体现摄影师对拍摄对象的理解，个人对它们的情感和触动，和最终内心想要传达的理念。仇国仕也想通过他的摄影作品，能让大家透过艺术有更多的自我发现与探索，并能更进一步地丰富和开阔他们的人生。

Photography is a personal philosophy that reflects the photographer's understanding of the subject. It also reveals the emotions and touches of every single person, and the ideas that one ultimately wants to convey. Nicolas Chow also wants to allow everyone to discover and explore more through his photographic works, thus enriching and broadening their lives in the future.

看完他的摄影，丝毫不会觉得中国艺术老气，虽展现中国古物，却用尽超现代的手法，强烈反差之下，反而有种超越时空的美感，突破了古今的时代感，甚至冲出了东西方的界限，愈加凸显文人审美的隽永。

After seeing his photography, people won't sense that Chinese art is old-fashioned. Although Nicolas is showing Chinese antiquities, he has used ultra-modern techniques to do it. Under the strong contrast, there is a kind of beauty that transcends time and space, breaking through the sense of the times and even rushing out the boundaries between the East and the West, increasingly highlighting the eternal aesthetics of the literati.
