初代级O虫饰品

新时线媒体艺术中心（CAC）与“机器不孤单”参展艺术家邓悦君共同推出“O虫”饰品组装体验工作坊。在邓悦君的作品《O》中，对 100 名不同的人所发出的长音“O”进行采样，然后烧录到芯片当中，制作成 100 只名为“O”的光伏虫。这些成群的“O”虫成会呈 O 型排列，依据太阳光线的强弱而共同发出层次不同的长音“O”。

在体验工作坊中，观众将了解《O》的创作理念，同时会得到一组“O虫”饰品元件套装，通过动手操作，学习芯片工作原理及声音烧录方法。同时，还有机会亲自体验激光切割机，发挥想象力，设计出极具个性的O虫饰品。

O虫饰品元件套装包括：

  芯片

  电子元件与金属元件

  喇叭

  彩色亚克力板

  基本挂绳

CAC将提供必要的操作工具。

工作坊结束后，观众可拥有一件初代级O虫饰品。期待与你们一起创作！

观众可作的提前准备:

 思考一个大于4.5cm × 4.5cm 的形状；

在报名时留言给CAC告诉我们你喜欢的颜色；

可准备个人喜欢的挂绳并带到现场。

 关于导师 

邓悦君，新媒体艺术家，现生活工作于杭州。中国美术学院新媒体系学士，中国美术学院跨媒体艺术学院硕士。2011 至2012 年参与瑞士苏黎世艺术大学（ZHDK）艺术与媒体项目。作品被收藏于艺术机构及私人藏家。目前创作主要围绕能量转换，维度空间以及机械运动三个研究方向，创作媒介涉及声音，机械装置，水墨动画等。

 About the Workshop 

Chronus Art Center (CAC) and DENG Yuejun, whose work is exhibited in Machines are Not Alone, jointly present this hands-on workshop that focuses on creating an O insect accessory. The art piece O made by DENG samples 100 people pronouncing the vowel O. Sounds are recorded into 100 custom chips to be imbedded in 100 photovoltaic insects named “O”. Flocks of insects will make O sounds when they receives rays of sunlight. The loudness and length of the sound O varies in response to the intensity of the sunlight, thus forming an orchestra of O.

In the workshop, participants will learn about the creative vision behind the O. They will receive a kit to make their own O insect accessory. Through the hands-on creative process, they will learn about the principles of microchip operation and the sound recording. They will have the opportunity to experience the fun of laser-cutting machine to create an imaginative, personalized O insect accessory.

O insect accessory kit includes:

  a microchip

  electronic and metal components

  a speaker

  a colourful acrylic sheet

  a basic lanyard 

CAC will provide all necessary tools.

At the end of the workshop, each participant will have their own first-generation O insect accessory. Let’s create together!

Before the workshop, participants are recommended to:

  design the shape of your O insect, which should be larger than 4.5cm x 4.5cm. 

  leave a comment to let us know which colour of acrylic you prefer to use for your O insect after registration.

  bring your own preferred lanyard to the workshop.

 About the Workshop Leader 

DENG Yuejun is a new media artist based in Hangzhou, born in 1986. He holds a bachelor degree from the New Media Department at The China Academy of Art, and master degree from School of Intermedia Art at The China Academy of Art. From 2011 to 2012, he participated in the art and media program at Zürich University of the Arts. His works are collected by art institutions and private collectors. He follows three research directions, energy transference, dimensional space, and mechanical movement. He currently works with the media including mechanical installation, Chinese ink painting animation and sound installation.

The CAC Editorial is a scholarly writing and publishing initiative co-organized by Chronus Art Center (CAC) and Center for Art and Technology, Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFAcat) in 2018. Building upon the success of Leonardo Art & Technology Lecture Series in cooperation with Leonardo/ISAST, CAC Editorial aims to establish a critical and rigorous platform dedicated to the discourse of media art informed by the most current debates in philosophy, aesthetics, ecology, art history and history of technology within a global context.
