Mao Space将于本周日（6月25日）下午三点呈现艺术家张钊瀛的最新个展《尴尬·间界》。此次展览以艺术家本人近期创作和生活中最为敏感的关键词“尴尬”作为入口，并通过多维的线索激活一系列由此展开的感官体验。张钊瀛以绘画的方式消解了图像，将之融入空间、影像和文本，进而重新建构成拥有暧昧解读空间的“尴尬剧场”。“间界”，是“尴尬”的旧说，亦是某种不确定的关系和场合，而正是在这个延展的不确定的中间界域，作品与观者连接，释放出更多关系的美学。

Mao Space invites you to ZHANG Zhaoying’s latest solo exhibition “Boundary of Ambiguity” at 3pm on June 25th (this Sunday). The exhibition positions the word “awkwardness” as an entry point, the most sensitive keyword extracting from the artist’s recent works and life, and activates series of sensual experience through multi-dimensional clues. ZHANG Zhaoying dissolves images through paintings and blends images into space, video and text. Thus the artist reconstructs a “theater of ambiguity”, a space that is composed of ambiguous interpretations. The word “Jianjie”, an old saying of “awkwardness”, also refers to indeterminate relation and occasion. It is within this malleable and indeterminate middle boundary that the work and the audience manage to connect, releasing further relational aesthetics.

About Artist

张钊瀛，1988年出生于广州，2013年毕业于四川美院油画系，2015年毕业于布鲁塞尔艺术学院。作品曾获“罗中立”奖，第五届“新星星艺术节”年度新人奖，今日美术馆“尚扬冠名”奖，“保利雅昌新势力第一届”雅昌推荐奖等。现工作生活于北京和重庆。

ZHANG Zhaoying, 1988 born in Guangzhou, 2013 Graduated fromthe Oil Painting Department of SiChuan Academy of Fine Arts. Currently works and lives in Beijing and Chongqing.

MAO SPACE

Established in the early autumn 2014, MAO SPACE debuts itself vigorously in Shanghai with its own perception, interpretation, and confidence upon contemporary art. Founded by the Purple Roof team, who has curated Jing’an International Sculpture Project (JISP) as well as other numerous significant sculpture projects, MAO SPACE has shown its prominent local strength and in-depth understanding in diverse art forms. 

By deepening collaborations with influential curators and scholars, on the other hand, MAO SPACE participates in the process of ongoing and forwarding Chinese contemporary art through representing various contemporary art shows and activities. Meanwhile, by introducing distinguished international contemporary artists to China, MAO SPACE positively builds valuable communicating platforms bridging between artists and the public, art institutions and the market.
