穿梭古镇朱家角的时间线：

原生态与现代化的冲突与平衡

“如果你来到古镇朱家角，你可能会疑惑：在国际大都市上海近郊的古镇是如何来保持其原生态与现代化发展的平衡的？此次驻留，我希望在朱家角的淀浦河上策划一次小型的‘船上会议’，邀请策展人、当地寺庙的住持（或者其他僧侣）、艺术家、建筑师，在朱家角老船夫的主导下，穿梭于传统寺庙区域、青砖黛瓦的居民区与新兴开发区之间，探讨原生态与现代化之间的平衡与矛盾，并将此过程以视频方式记录。”

Kenji YAMADA, born in 1983 inTokyo, Japan. Yamada is an artist whose approach edits ruins and rituals, documentaryfootage and materials, in order to capture the ways of modern society as ourconceptually new experiences. His experiments in "how the facts of theancient function in the present" are informed by the conceptualbreakthroughs and new fields of modern society.

His approach is coacted by hisparticipation in local groups such as research installations and documentaryfilm crews, which provided direction to the key to their activities, and theresults of this participation are still being released in his experimentalprojects today.

At the Echigo-Tsumari ArtTriennale, Yamada has organized the project that he will be running a what iscalled a "yukimuro", a kind of ancient traditional refrigerator usedlong ago in the mountainous regions, as an ice hotel, a facility that allowscustomers to stay as if they were food or hibernating, surrounded by massivepiles of snow.

At London's Crypt Gallery, hehas exhibited that documentary footage of the "sky burial" ritual inTibet, where the flesh of the deceased is given up to the birds, will be playedin reverse, so that seems as if the beaks of birds combine to form a humanbody.
