阿拉里奥画廊荣幸地宣布，艺术家及电影导演雎安奇2018年新作《艺术是什么》入选2019年第20届韩国全州国际电影节，将于5月7日和5月9日在Megabox影院进行两场公映并有映后访谈。同时，以该片影像为灵感创作的同名装置作品也将成为本届电影节最新设立的致力于探索电影与艺术、建筑、摄影和设计等领域跨界合作这一当代艺术趋势的“展映+”（Expanded Plus）单元群展的一部分，它将成为电影节历史上的里程碑，一个新的起点。

ARARIO GALLERY is honored to announce that artist and film director JU Anqi’s 2018 work What is Art? is selected to join the 20th Jeonju International Film Festival in Korea. Two screenings with after-screening talk will be presented in Megabox respectively on May 7 and 9. Meanwhile, a video installation inspired from the film work will be included as a part of Expended Plus, a new session providing the comprehensive overview of contemporary art trends where films meet art, architecture, photography and design, which also represents a new beginning of the film festival from its 20th anniversary.

50位中国新一代艺术家来到了距北京市区110公里的河北省兴隆县。在这里，他们回答了一个共同的问题：艺术是什么？

影片聚焦于新一代艺术家对于艺术创作不同角度的解读，创作环境对于艺术家的影响、以及艺术家曾经和正在经历过的、来自艺术自身和社会环境所带来的挑战等话题，从多个维度呈现艺术、环境、创作、个人之间的关系，旨在试图进阶勾勒出永恒的话题——艺术是什么？

The Great Unity of the new Generation of Chinese modern Artists since 21st Century.

50 new Chinese artists of new Generation came to Xinglong County, Hebei Province, where is 110 kilometres away from Beijing. Here, they have given their own answers to the same question: what is art?

Through focusing on varied perspectives of emerging artists on creating, how environment impacts them, and challenges artist are experiencing and have experienced from art itself and society. Artists demonstrate the complex relationship between art, environment, art creating and individuals, and they are intended to deepen an eternal question –What is art?

于2000年在韩国全罗北道全州市第一次举办的全州国际电影节一直以来致力于在最前沿推介独立实验电影，聚焦当代电影艺术的另类运动，积极发现有才华并能够影响和引领未来的电影创作者，为创造性的实验和独立的精神加持，并为来自世界各地的电影从业者提供相聚和交流的机会。雎安奇导演曾于2015年凭借《诗人出差了》获第16届全州国际电影节最高大奖。

Launched in 2000 as a non-competitive film festival that adopts partial competition, the Jeonju International Film Festival (Jeonju IFF) introduced independent and experimental films at the forefront to shine a spotlight on the alternative movements of contemporary film art. Jeonju IFF discovers talents of promising filmmakers who could be the future leaders of filmmaking, endorse creative experiments and independent spirits, and provides the opportunity to meet and bond with international filmmakers. JU Anqi was awarded Grand Prize（International Competition）16th Jeonju International Film Festival with his work Poet on A Business Trip.

We want to blur the distinction between cinema and visual arts, theater and gallery, film festival and art exhibition. Rather than defining what the contemporary cinema is, it is more important to tell where it has reached and how far it can go.

关于艺术家 | THE ARTIST

1975年出生于新疆乌鲁木齐，在北京电影学院导演系接受了电影教育。目前备受国际瞩目的中国新一代电影导演和当代艺术家之一。他的创作涉及实验影像、叙事性电影、绘画和LED灯箱系列作品，是中国观念艺术创作者中的罕见个案。作品曾于巴黎蓬皮杜中心、纽约现代艺术博物馆、纽约古根海姆美术馆展出。现工作生活于北京。

2000年处女作《北京的风很大》入围柏林国际电影节成为日后中国实验电影的里程碑之作。2015年《诗人出差了》在44届鹿特丹国际电影节首映并获得了最佳亚洲电影大奖，以及第16届韩国全州国际电影节最高大奖、第3届西班牙巴塞罗那Casa亚洲电影周的最佳导演奖等多个国际奖项。近期作品还包括由二十多位中国当代艺术家共同出演的电影《失踪的警察》；入选瑞士文化基金会全球九人艺术计划的《钻的人》、由西班牙戈雅奖新科影帝扬·可耐特（Jan Cornet）主演的影片《阿尔莫多瓦的演员》。

Born in 1975 in Urumqi, Xinjiang province, Ju Anqi graduated from the Directing Department of the Beijing Film Academy. As one of the most widely recognized directors from China's "New Generation" of filmmakers and multi-media artists, his works involve experimental video and photography, narrative films,painting, and LED light boxes, making him a rarity among Chinese conceptual artists. Ju’s experimental films have been exhibited in the Centre Pompidou (Paris), MoMA (New York) and Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (New York). Ju Anqi currently works and lives in Beijing.

Ju’s debut film was ‘There’s a Strong Wind in Beijing’, which was shot on films 8 years after their expiration date, was selected for the entry of the Berlin International Film Festival in 2000, and became the milestone for Chinese Experimental films. His film ‘Poet on a Business Trip’ premiered at the 44th edition of the International Film Festival of Rotterdam, which won the Netpac Award Winner, and the Grand Prize at the 16th Jeoju International Film Festival as well as three other international awards. In April 2016, JuAnqi produced a new film ‘A Missing Policeman’ which co-starred over 20 contemporary artists from China. His film ‘Drill Man’ (2016) was selected by Draft project (Pro Helvetia, Swiss Arts Council) and he has shot Almodovar’s Actor on September 2016 in Barcelona (Spain), featuring Jan Cornet, winner of the Goya Awards Best New Actor for La Piel.
