Wu Shaoxiang was born in Jiangxi Province In 1957. He was out of school when he was a teenager. He used to be a farm worker, a mason, and a woodworker. He graduated from the Sculpture Department of Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute with a bachelor's degree in 1982. In 1987, Wu became a master's graduate in sculpture at the CAAC and studied under Zheng Ke who is the famous sculptor, after he received a master's degree, he stayed on to teach. He became famous in the 1980s, he was one of the earliest sculptors who explored avant-garde art in China，he is also a representative sculptor in the 85 new wave art movement and used to initiate a national discussion about sculpture. He held a solo exhibition at the National Art Museum of China in 1988. In next year, participated in Avant-garde China, and then he moved to Austria. In 1991,  He began to create sculptures with coins, that is his original creation. He gained international fame and merged into the GWR. In 2004, the German autobiography "The Shadow of the Sun" was published by Vienna Sefer Press. In 2008, the People's Fine Arts Publishing House published "The Art of Sculpture", which became the national university textbook designated by the Ministry of Education of China. Now, he is currently a Distinguished Professor of the TAFA and an adjunct professor at the School of Visual Arts, Fudan University.

蒋 朔  Jiang Shuo

1958年生于中国北京，1978-1982年于中央工艺美术学院（现清华大学美术学院）装饰系雕塑专业学习并获学士学位。1982-1985年为中央工艺美术学院装饰雕塑系研究生，师从郑可教授，获硕士学位，是中国第一位获得硕士学位的雕塑家。同年任教于中央工艺美术学院，1987年获讲师职称。1989年移居奥地利并设立工作室。90年代后期以她独特个人风格的青铜雕塑获得国际声誉，作品被世界各地广为收藏。现生活和工作于北京，柏林和奥地利。

Jiang Shuo was born in Beijing in 1958. From 1978 through 1982, she studied sculpture at the Central Academy of Arts & Design (now the Academy of Fine Arts, Tsinghua University), Beijing, China. From 1982 through 1985, she pursued postgraduate studies under Professor Zheng Ke at the Central Academy of Arts & Design, she is the first sculptor with a master's degree in China. After graduation, she stayed on as a teacher and was awarded the title of lecturer in 1987. In 1989, moved to Austria and set up a studio.  In the late 1990s, she gained an international reputation for her unique personal style bronze sculpture, which was widely collected around the world. Now she lives and works in Beijing, China, Berlin, Germany and klagenfurt, Austria.
