展览“双重奏：谭平回顾展”已于6月15日在余德耀美术馆开幕，展览中最为简约却又极具视觉冲击的作品，是一件木刻版画《+40m》。艺术家想起儿时，沿着走过的墙面，用物品划过的景像，因而他想重现这种顽童般破坏性的行为。作品采用了单纯而原始的木刻版画形式刻制，一把圆口木刻刀，历时6小时，全神贯注，一气呵成。刻刀与木板接触的瞬间如同划开弹性的皮肤，徐徐行刀，不断前行，刀我合一，在沉入生命的“时刻”留下无数令人欣喜的节点与瞬间。

版画是始终陪伴艺术家左右的创作形式，本次展览也见证了艺术家对版画创作的探索历程。根据展览，我们为大家带来了一系列版画工作坊。本期工作坊为大家带来的活动内容——木刻，是版画的一种，亦是中外版画的最早形式。我们将领带大家以刀代笔，结合颜料创作中简洁的线条，找寻与木版画中每一条刻痕的异同。黑白的共存，是颜色上的单一，却能赋予更大空间和视觉上的冲突，对比色彩，感受同一个主题下不同的艺术表现形式，通过深入接触和创造来了解版画，提升对艺术的感知和认识。

On 15th of June, Duet: A Tan Ping Retrospective exhibition opened in Yuz museum. The most simple but visually striking work in the exhibition is a woodcut work, +40m. The artist reminisced of the scenes of his childhood when he walked along the wall and ran objects across it, so he wants to recreate this destructive behaviour like a naughty child.

Printmaking is a creative form that always accompanies artists. The exhibition also witnessed the artists' exploration of printmaking. This upcoming "The Pain after a Line Workshop" will be about wood carving which is one of the most ancient types of printmaking. We will use carving tools instead of pens, combining simple lines in the paints to find the similarities and differences with each notch in the woodcut.

The coexistence of black and white is a single colour, but it can give more a larger space and visual conflict. Its' contrast colour also makes us feel different forms of artistic expression under the same theme. Through in-depth contact and understanding the creation of printmaking, we will enhance the perception and the understanding of art. 

Activity procedure

1. Get to know about wood carving and appreciate selected woodcut artworks

2. Learn about wood carving skills and creations

3. Brainstorm and do wood carving

4. Print the wood carving artwork and box it.
