Other & Self 

The dance film tries to explore the connection between the self and the others. 

The others include everything outside of the self, while the self tries constantly to reach out, discover and draw from the outside world. 

After all, all the finding in others is the quest of self. 

这部当代舞概念片意在探讨自我与他者直接的联系。

他者代笔所有自我以外的存在，而自我一直都在不断向外探索、发现，并从外界的反馈感知自我。

总之，所有对他者的探索其实都是自我追寻途中的跋涉。

I. 

物无非彼， 物无非是。 

Things are not always others or self, 

this or that. 

自彼则不见，自知则知之。

If you try to understand then you can’t get it, 

only when you truly know by your self you can understand.  

是亦彼也，彼亦是也。

This can be that, and that can be this. 

彼亦一是非，此亦一是非。

Things which are right in this can be wrong in that. 

II.

非彼无我，非我无所取。

There’s no self without the others (the contrary), 

The others (The contrary) cannot take form without my self. 

是亦近矣，而不知其所为使。

It seems I am the same with the others, but I don’t know what/who is behind.  

若有真宰，而特不得其眹， 

If there’s truly a master behind everything, why can’t I see his traces?

可行已信，而不见其形，有情而无形。

The existents prove its existence, we cannot see, because the essence exists without the forms.

Anneliese Charek 

Anneliese Charek is an artist, educator and arts facilitator focusing on the mediums of film, video installation, and dance. 

She is the founder of SLATE Dance Company, and currently living in Shanghai.

Through various roles in education and arts institutions, she has amassed experience in the areas of film production, performance production, arts management and arts education. 

Anneliese Charek 是一位艺术家和艺术教育者，她的艺术表达形式包括影像和舞蹈。

她是SLATE当代舞团的创始人，目前生活在上海。

通过参与众多文化艺术项目，她在包括影像制作、表演制作、艺术管理、艺术教育等众多艺术领域都积累了宝贵的创作和工作经验。

Olga Merekina 

Olga Merekina is a contemporary dancer, body art educator, and performing artist. 

Born in Vladivostok, currently living in Shanghai. 

She is the founder of Dakini Dance Studio, editor of Magazeta Magazine, and member of Shanghai Art Collective Illumin8tors.

Olga Merekina 是一位当代舞者、身体艺术教育者，和表演艺术家。

出生于符拉迪沃斯托克（海参崴），目前生活于上海。

她是Dakini舞蹈工作室创始人，Magazeta杂志编辑，以及上海艺术团体Illumin8ators成员。
