自2008年伊始，Marianne Halter & Mario Marchisella便开始了稳定的合作，经常一同创作以表演、音乐、影像及装置为表现形式的作品。就内容和主题来说，他们通常围绕着一个“人物”来创作，这个人物是一个身处陌生环境中与周围一切都无法契合的陌生人。尽管如此，这个人物还是尝试去适应，去接触，亦或重构（亦或曲解）既定的场景。后者可能涉及建筑或景观的结构以及地域习俗、文化和神话。他们将公共空间转换成自己创作的舞台，在对其进行干预的期间，显而易见的矛盾与荒谬在当下真实的语境中浮现出来。作品中的配乐与视觉效果发挥着同样重要的作用，并且可以充当地点与行为之间的纽带，带领观众进入内容上“不可见”的层面。他们的每一件作品都会根据展馆的场域和语境进行调整，最后以装置的形式呈现。

Since 2008 Marianne Halter & Mario Marchisella collaborate regularly to create works resulting from an exploration of performance, music and (the moving) image in the broadest possible sense, typically presented in the form of video works and installations. In terms of themes and content, they often work with a «figure», a stranger in an unfamiliar environment out of sync with place and time.This figure nevertheless attempts to adapt, interact with, or reinterpret (or misinterpret) the given situational conditions. The latter can involve structures of architecture or landscape as well as regional customs or cultural and mythological aspects. They use the public space as a stage where, for the moment of their intervention, apparent paradoxes and absurdities can transpire within the context of the reality of the local situation.The soundtrack plays just as important a role as the visuals and can act as a hinge between place and action, referring to an «invisible» layer of content.The individual works are presented in the form of installations adapted for the respective exhibition venues or set in new contexts.

Marianne Halter & Mario Marchisella这对组合是瑞士文化基金会上海办公室今年的驻留艺术家，合作机构为OCAT上海馆。

Marianne Halter，1970年生于苏黎世，在卢塞恩美术大学学习。在与Mario Marchisella 合作的同时，她也进行个人创作。2001年起，她在卢塞恩应用科技与艺术大学及平面设计学院担任讲师。她的作品涉及多种媒介，例如影像、摄影、装置和绘画等，并定期在瑞士和国外展出。Marianne也为舞蹈，戏剧和跨界类实验性作品进行摄像和舞台设计。她曾在芝加哥、巴黎、约翰内斯堡和彼得伯勒参与过艺术家驻留。她的作品在公共空间内展出的同时也被企业收藏。

Mario Marchisella，1972年生于苏黎世，是一名音乐家、作曲家、视觉艺术家。自1994到1998年在苏黎世艺术大学学习古典音乐，2001年，他在苏黎世创办了音乐工作室及厂牌Audioscope，接受来自电影、剧场、广播及视觉艺术的作曲委托。Mario经常与Marianne合作，但也以个人的形式在视觉音效与表演领域（声音艺术）中进行创作，并获得奖项。他曾与自己的乐队“Elixir”，“Duo Belvedere”和“Drastic Dislocations”一起巡回演出并制作唱片。他的创作范围广泛，包括即兴演奏的电声音乐，使用DIY制造或改装的乐器来演奏50年代到70年代的意大利歌曲，以及用鼓声来咏诵诗歌。

The artist duo Marianne Halter & Mario Marchisella are conducting a binding residency hosted by OCAT Shanghai, supported by Pro Helvetia Shanghai, Swiss Arts Council.

Marianne Halter (b. 1970) lives and works in Zurich, Switzerland.

She studied at Lucerne University of Design & Arts and works as a visual artist both in her own capacity and in collaboration with Mario Marchisella. She works as lecturer at Grafikfachklasse and University of Design & Arts Lucerne. Her work comprises different media such as video, photography, installation and drawing and is regularly exhibited in Switzerland and abroad. She realised videos and stage designs for dance and theatre and experimental works in cross-disciplines. She had studio residencies in Chicago, Paris, Johannesburg and Peterborough and her work is represented in public and corporate collections.

Mario Marchisella (b. 1972) is a Swiss/Italian composer, performer and visual artist.

He studied Classical Music at the Conservatory of Zurich and founded Audioscope, a recording studio and label in Zurich, where he composes music for theatre, film and visual art.

Mario often works with Marianne Halter, but also develops his own works as an artist in the audiovisual and performative fields (sound art) and has received stipendiums and awards for his work as artist and composer. He toured and produced records with his Bands “Elixir”, “Duo Belvedere” and “Drastic Dislocations”. His wide range includes improvised electro acoustic music, played on self built or modified instruments, to singing italian songs from the 50’ies to the 70’ies and playing drums to spoken word poetry.
