2014年,腾讯微信App上线“动态视频”功能,允许用户拍摄和分享最长6秒钟的视频。在中国的大江南北,人们纷纷拥抱这新的内容形式,微视频开始风行聊天群和个人推送。此类视频大多数记录日常生活场景,从而史无前例地提供了关于这个国家寻常活动与事件的拼图。但伴随微视频的井喷,惊悚新闻、自然灾害、暴力事件、色情内容也层出不穷,考验着人们的承受力与责任意识,引起越来越紧迫的道德问题。


视听装置《微王国》在一个长时段里集结了这些短视频的片段,通过改造微信朋友圈标志性的九宫格,借助源自用户的视频摄制学,来呈现可供展览的主题。通过将平淡无奇的场景与表演性的举动、含有个人创造力的社交事件并置,《微王国》证实了微信短视频奇异的物质性和它们作为偶然性镜头的循环,鼓励人们思考民间视频制作的未来。

In 2014, Tencent's WeChat app introduced a function called "Sights", that allowed users to shoot and share video loops of up to six seconds of length. People across China embraced this new content format and short video clips started circulating across chat groups and personal feeds. Most of these micro-videos documented scenes of everyday life, offering an unprecedented mosaic of ordinary activities and events across the nation. This surge of micro-videos also raised increasingly pressing ethical questions, as the circulation of gruesome accidents, natural catastrophes, violent episodes and pornographic materials pushed the boundaries of acceptability and accountability. Drawing on a long-term collection of these short video clips, "Microkingdom" is an audio-visual installation that remediates the iconic 3-by-3 grid of WeChat Moments in order to present a curated thematic selection of user-generated cinematography from China. By juxtaposing of mundane scenes with performative activities and social events with individual creativity, "Microkingdom" evidences the peculiar materiality of WeChat micro-videos and their circulation as found footage, encouraging reflection on the future development of vernacular digital video-making.


艺术家

胡子哥(意大利)是媒介人类学者,拥有香港理工大学社会学博士学位,曾是台北中央研究院民族学研究所的博士后研究员。其研究工作以民族志为基础,横跨多个地域,着重于研究中国的数字媒体发展及民间创造力。此外,他还涉猎实验音乐场景、互联网艺术,对人类学与艺术实践之间的交叉也颇感兴趣。


媚潇(1985年生于沙特阿拉伯达兰),获得马斯特里赫特大学艺术与社会科学学院的艺术与科技文化硕士学位。她是艺术家、研究员和策展人,曾在北美、中国、马来西亚、澳大利亚和欧洲参展。她以影像、声音、行为、互联网从事艺术创作,进行中的“Chinternet档案”是取材自中国网络的数字人工制品集。技术及其与人类行为和社会互动的关系,是她最感兴趣的领域。她创建了Netize.net,一个记录中国艺术和科技的网络档案;近期又开始从创新、社交和现象学等面向探索虚拟现实。


Gabriele de Seta is a media anthropologist. He holds a PhD in Sociology from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Ethnology, Academia Sinica in Taipei. His research work, grounded on ethnographic engagement across multiple sites, focuses on digital media practices and vernacular creativity in China. He is also interested in experimental music scenes, internet art, and collaborative intersections between anthropology and art practice. Michelle Proksell  (b. Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, 1985) holds a Masters of Science in the Cultures of Art, Science and Technology from Maastricht University's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. She is also an artist, researcher, and curator, having produced exhibitions and performed in North America, China, Malaysia, Australia, and Europe. As an artist she works with video, sound, performance, the Internet and her ongoing Chinternet Archive - a collection of vernacular digital artefacts from the Chinese Web. She is most interested in technology and its relationship to human behaviour and social interactions. She is the founder of Netize.net—an archive documenting art and technology in China—and more recently has been exploring the creative, social and phenomenological aspects of Virtual Reality.


2019 OCT-LOFT创意节正于深圳华侨城创意文化园北区C2展厅举办。此次创意节将以“欢乐宫殿”为题,聚焦技术伦理及其与社会的关系,强调人们作为“提问者”的角色,并试图借此激发与话题相关的各种讨论。


「欢乐宫殿」主展览部分共邀请16组国内外艺术家,展出包括交互装置、影像、声音、摄影等不同媒介的17件艺术作品。此外,在创意节期间,我们也将组织丰富多样的公共项目,从不同角度与观众一同反思并回应当下的技术生活。


同时,作为此次创意节的特别项目,“无定游乐场”将作为一个不断变化、可以自定义的灵活空间,面向公众开放征集入驻方案,并希望能通过共建对话与分享的空间,呈现更多的实践与联系。
