【官宣】博而励画廊宣布正式更名为SPURS Gallery

成立于2005年的博而励画廊宣布正式更名为SPURS Gallery。画廊取“马刺”之意，旨在传达一种锐意创新敢为人先的态度，以激励社会的文化反思与文化自信为责任。画廊将继续义无反顾地支持艺术家的创作与推广，为艺术家提供实现创造力的国际平台；同时积极投身与藏家、策展人及机构的合作，开启中国前沿艺术与西方立场之间的对话，推动中国艺术市场的良性发展，以建立、解放并持续影响中国当代艺术发展为使命。2020年，SPURS Gallery 在不改变原画廊既有艺术家阵营及核心运营团队的基础上，以全新的理念与崭新的面貌再次出发，以期开拓更为广阔的前景。

对画廊而言，此次更名意味着品牌的全面升级，在保持与多位当代艺术领域的中流砥柱式艺术家合作的同时，画廊将加大力度支持国内外年轻艺术家的创作。SPURS Gallery位于798的核心空间会一如既往坚持展览品质，以每年7至8场展览的节奏，为代理及合作的国内外艺术家们提供专业的展示空间，并有选择地参加海内外博览会。作为一家当代艺术的专业传播机构，我们将以不同形式——出版、项目、讲座等丰富形式让更多人了解中国的当代艺术。

Boers-Li Gallery, established in 2005, has officially changed its name to SPURS Gallery. SPURS Gallery is one of the earliest established contemporary art galleries in China. Founded in 2005 as Universal Studio Beijing, later as Boers-Li Gallery, SPURS has staged more than 90 exhibitions that represented all generations of Chinese contemporary artists and explored Chinese art history since the first avant-garde movements after the Cultural Revolution. In 2020, SPURS continues to tell the story of Chinese contemporary art history to the world. It aims to provide a platform for artists to realize their practice on an international stage and foster conversations between cutting-edge Chinese art and the global art scene.

Since we are located in the core of 798 Art Zone, SPURS Gallery will continue to ensure its exhibition quality by showing the works of artists from China and abroad 7-8 times a year. At the same time, the gallery will participate in selected exhibitions both domestically and abroad. As a contemporary art institution, our determination to support artists is not confined to the gallery space. We will continue to make Chinese contemporary art readily accessible to more people by providing publications, projects, and lectures.

SPURS Gallery在当前国内国际的特殊时期迅速开启云办公模式，并决定调整原定展览计划，以“CLEAN”为主题，发起一场意涵丰富的特别项目——它既是画廊新形象的一次公开展示，也为因疫情触发了许多思考的艺术家们提供了自由表达的出口——绝大部分作品是参展艺术家在疫情期间的新作。

Due to the unprecedented nature of the current situation both domestically and abroad, SPURS Gallery has reacted promptly by commencing a full—scale cloud office mode and by adjusting the original plans for exhibitions. The gallery has also set to launch a particularly meaningful project titled "CLEAN". It is both a public display of the gallery's new image and an outlet of free expression for the artists whose reflections have been sparked by the outbreak of the virus—most of the works that will take part in the exhibition were done by the artists during the outbreak.

在主画廊品牌下会有2个相对独立的子品牌。“S.LAB”，每年计划组织2至3场展览项目，其核心是一间先锋实验室，旨在呈现非画廊代理的艺术家。与此同时，我们会调动画廊全部的既有资源，包括市场、推广，甚至是法律保护等，推动这个项目的持续进行。在S.LAB中参展的艺术家可能从未有过与画廊合作的经验，甚至从未参加过任何展览，这些都没关系，只要艺术家在S.LAB的项目中反响不凡、令我们由衷的欣赏，我们会认真考虑将其纳入SPURS Gallery的展览中。

“Room 6×8”是由SPURS Gallery与Gallery Sohe于2019年联合打造的国内首家当代艺术/设计廊，将当代艺术、现代主义家居以及当代艺术家居结合，以点到面的方式延伸出一场新的审美实验。作为一个非典型的新类型艺术与文化交流平台、也是当代画廊的新形态，主理人Sherry Lai和Kyle Zhang希望ROOM 6x8包含多种元素——围绕艺术突破传统“白盒子”的空间印象，通过具有当代性和挑战性的项目，模拟多种类型的艺术在离开既定的空间（美术馆、画廊）会产生的影响，诠释真实的当下状态，为藏家提供互相交流的场所。

Further, we will have two projects that are independent of the gallery’s brand. For instance, the “S.LAB” is a recent addition. The project space will organize 2-3 exhibitions every year. It is an exhibition place for emerging artists who have no exhibitions history in China, or virtually none abroad. The artists whom show in S-Lab will be strictly non-gallery artists, but will use SPURS’ resources in terms of marketing or contacts.

“Room 6x8” is co-founded by Sherry Lai (Partner of SPURS Gallery) and Kyle Zhang (Founder of Gallery Sohe). Established in 2019, the space is the first contemporary design gallery in China. Its aim is to provide an unique experience for the public to communicate, share and explore high-level contemporary designers and artists both domestically and globally. “6x8” originates from the decomposition of the 48 square meters of the space; combining contemporary art, modernism furnitures and contemporary design furniture. In the space, each design object can be viewed alone. Yet, when combined with other artworks or pieces, it will voice new dialogues cohesively.

2016年成为画廊合伙人的贾伟将继续以管理合伙人的身份领导工作，Sherry Lai（来梦馨）将成为新任合伙人，并继续带领团队维护发展SPURS Gallery日后的运营，与此同时，画廊既有的艺术家阵营及核心运营团队不会改变。

Sherry Lai 于2016年加入博而励画廊担任总监，曾供职于 Christian Louboutin、Moda Operandi。在其带领下，画廊团队已完成40余场广受认可的展览。Sherry成长于加拿大，获得美国帕森艺术学院（Parsons the New School）硕士学位，此前就读于美国波士顿大学商学院（Boston University, Questrom School of Business）并取得经济学学士学位。她也是纽约古根海姆YCC收藏委员会成员及北京UCCA YA创始成员。

Jia Wei, who became a gallery partner in 2016, will continue to lead the work as a managing partner. Sherry Lai will become the new partner and continue to lead the team to maintain and develop the future operation of SPURS Gallery. At the same time, the current artist camp and core operations team will not change.

Sherry Lai joined Boers-Li Gallery in 2016 as the gallery's manager. Prior to that, she has worked for both Christian Louboutin and Moda Operandi in New York. Under her leadership, the gallery team has completed more than 40 widely acclaimed exhibitions. Sherry grew up in Canada and received a Masters degree from Parsons the New School, and also Questrom School of Business at Boston University with a bachelor's degree in Finance and Marketing. She is also a member of the Guggenheim YCC Acquisitions Committee, and a founding member of UCCA Young Associates in Beijing.
