"When I started to create my own work, I realized that my creative concept should be simple and direct and that my artworks should establish a communication with people’s inner world.
I like to challenge myself and try new forms, because I think art history is written by a group of people who like to challenge the status quo and to take risks. No matter what the situation is, good artists should not restrain themselves. I also think that artists should have their own independent world. I hope that one day, I will be able to achieve my own independent world. "
Li Hui (1977-2020), born in Beijing, graduated from the Sculpture Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2003. He works with a large range of metals, acrylic, LED lights, laser, smoke and other materials to create. Li Hui explores the potential meaning of a wide range of issues and phenomena which are not only related to society but also to his personal experience: he is very good at representing these issues within the framework of his artistic conception and his artistic practice.

Li Hui's works have been widely exhibited around the world. His artistic practice is characterized by two creative elements: the first is the use of laser (laser) and cold light (LED light). Through the use of these materials, Li Hui explores new possibilities of personal expression combining art and technology. The second one is the conception of “physical sculpture” or space installation through which Li Hui conveys his observations about the rapid transformation of Chinese society. Among the new generation of Chinese artists, Li Hui is one of the few artists who can use various experimental media to address serious topics related to humanity.

Li Hui likes to juxtapose contradictory elements at the same time. Beside portraying the relentless replacement of the status quo in historical reincarnation and describing the rapid transition from sea to land, his works also address the constant circularity of life, the vitality and the eternal spiritual pursuit. Li Hui ’s artistic creation embodies a sensorial and rational experience. The artist intends to use contemporary high-tech media to explore the existential condition of the individual, psychological fears and spiritual issues such as compression and uncertainty.

“I heard a sentence with special feeling, called ‘Eternal sky, a day with wind and moon’. ‘Eternal Sky” must exist in itself, and ‘A day with wind and moon’ is constantly changing, and it can be in any form, either sunny, cloudy or stormy. ‘Eternal Sky’ is constant, it is something that exists forever. And everyone has it. As long as you evoke this thing, I think my work is successful.
I think each artist's work embody his own presentation. ”
