Farmer的作品在展览过程中常会发生变化，例如在他2005年的作品《A Pale Fire》中，他收集的各类物品和家具在整个展览进行时被拆解、燃烧，并用由此产生的灰烬制作作品。Farmer对蒙太奇的特殊使用产生了一种标志性的风格，他的作品是多媒体的，使用拼贴、摄影、绘画、雕塑、录像和许多发现的材料来制作复杂的作品，其中包含声音或机械元素，使它们栩栩如生，并根据作品的安装空间来大幅编辑和重新排列作品，以至于策展人杰西卡·摩根（Jessica Morgan）开玩笑地称他为“博物馆的敌人”。

曾获2013年Gershon Iskowitz奖，曾参加2011年第十二届伊斯坦布尔双年展、2012年卡塞尔Documenta 13、2017年威尼斯双年展。近年来的重要展览包括：MUDPUDDLERS, CORN BORERS, POLYMORPHIC PLATYFORMS, Casey Kaplan, NY（2018）、The Care With Which The Rain Is Wrong, Schinkel Pavillion, Berlin（2017）、The Kitchen, Catriona Jeffries, Vancouver（2017）、How Do I Fit This Ghost In My Mouth?, Vancouver Art Gallery（2015）等。
