Born of the meeting of the poetic and facetious universe of designer and artist Hubert le Gall with this architectural dream that is the Villa Kérylos, the exhibition is an invitation to travel to an ancient Greece more fantasized than real. Created specifically for the occasion, around thirty-five pieces (desks, table, sofa, seats, candelabras, sculptures...) thus weave Ariadne's threads between the topography of the place and the eternal myths revisited by the creator and with scientific advice. The exhibition will be aimed at a large audience, who will discover, over the rooms, this new look focused on the "Greek fantasy" of archaeologist Théodore Reinach, founder of the villa, and architect Emmanuel Pontremoli, almost a century ago. These hybrid sculptures and pieces of furniture took place in the sublime Greek-inspired Villa Kérylos, following a narrative journey born from their formal and literary dialogue, in keeping with the place.

Rustling with a thousand scents distilled by the essences of plants dear to ancient Greece, the Garden welcomes visitors who must agree to relieve their body and their mind of any reference to the present to enter this enchanted travel.

Specially created for the garden, The Crater of Time symbolizes the cycle of time, from which a garland of poppy flowers arises. Looking like a cosmic pillar, this work connects the sky to the earth, the mythical past to the present.

Plant vocabulary in the work The Aphrodite's Ribbon is an allusion to the passage of time. An apple abandoned on one of the three seats refers to the seduction and the myth of The Judgment of Paris which put the three goddesses Hera, Athena and Aphrodite in competition in a beauty contest.

Inspired by the central motif of the mosaic which illustrates the heroic struggle of Theseus and the Minotaur, an imposing cabinet, Taurus, evokes the savage force of the legendary creature born of the unnatural loves of Pasiphaé, the king's wife Minos, and a white bull sent by Poseidon. Facing him is a sofa hugging the sensual curves of a simulated cow, mischievously baptized Pasiphaé by the artist.

Dedicated to music and poetry, the small lounge is decorated with white stucco friezes to the glory of the two rivals, Apollo and Dionysus. The visitor is in no way invited to choose between the two sides of Greek thought but to contemplate the sea from this space conducive to meditation and reverie.

“我不想遵循传统的创作方法,我想制造一种模糊性。一切只是为了讲述一个故事。”
—— 休伯特·勒加尔
"I don't care about propriety and I love to cultivate ambiguity. Everything is a pretext for telling a story.”
