- 关于展览 About The Exhibition -

2020年8月14日工作室画廊很荣幸与The Artling联合呈现艺术家李文光在工作室项目空间近期的驻地项目《科外幻笔记》，这也是工作室画廊首次将驻地艺术家的OpenStudio既创作成果汇报以展览的方式呈现在项目空间以外的公共空间。值得一提的是，OpenStudio在这次的展览上一语双关，它既指艺术家近期的驻地项目的成果汇报；同时也呼应了这次展览的空间呈现：艺术家将生活中自己的工作室呈现在了展览现场。

在李文光看来，科学的虚构建立在已知的基础上，“科学外世界的虚构”却没有办法依照已知科学理论去解释，它是对不存在的物理逻辑进行的虚构。他将本次驻地的创作引入这个虚构的方向，营造出一种不存在的科学想象。

在艺术家两个月高强度的驻地工作中，工作室项目空间缜密地记录下了艺术家创作的整个过程：创作动机、创作意图及创作方法。而这一切也以文字的形式记录在第14期《艺术家讨论》报纸中并将在这次的展览上呈现。

除此之外，在艺术家整个创作中最鲜为外人所知的“污水槽”也将呈现在展览现场。在这次驻地创作的第三周，艺术家在驻地工作室现场复制了一个“污水槽”，它既是其作品初期制作油彩肌理的工具，同时也是艺术家眼中现实社会化学污染现状的一个模拟呈现。

“污水槽”的呈现也让《根号水》系列作品有了更加直观地创作过程体验，其画面中最主要的水体污染物便来自这里。当然，艺术家的意图并不满足于肌理的捕捉和呈现，黑板、公式、几何图形元素都试图在暗示我们艺术家想要论证什么。

《根号水》、“污水槽”、《艺术家讨论》报纸对于驻地过程的记录支撑起了组织这个展览的核心，也希望借由展览，邀请每一位观众走近艺术家李文光的工作现场一窥究竟。

Studio Gallery is honored to co-present with The Artling on August 14th, 2020, to show artist Li Wenguang’s recent residency project "Extro-Science Fiction Notes". This is the first time that Studio Gallery presents「OPEN STUDIO」results by residence artist in the form of an exhibition, especially in a public space outside its Project Space. It is worth mentioning that「OPEN STUDIO」is a pun which does not only refer to the results of the artist’s residency project; it also echoes the spatial presentation of this exhibition: Li arranges the scene as his own studio in this exhibition.

In Li’s understanding, science fiction is based on what we have known, while “Extro-Science Fiction” is fictionally structured upon a non-existable logic of physics, thus unexplainable in the current known scientific field. He led his residency works into this fictitious direction，create a scientific imagination that does not exist.

During the two-month of Li's high-intensity work, Studio Project team had meticulously documented the entire process: the motivation, the intention and the methods, etc. All these were also recorded in the 14th issue of 「Artist Talk」newspaper，and will be presented in this exhibition.

In addition, the "sewage tank" which was the most unknown part of the artist's entire creation process, will also appear in the exhibition. In the third week of Li’s residency time, he made a tank in Studio Project Space. It’s built as a water channel that provides him with colourful textures produced in his work, while at the same time it evokes a sense of reality that mirrors water contamination in the current society.

The sewage tank also creates some direct experience to the audiences by showing the making process of the series "Water of Radical Signs", which the main pattern in the paintings came from there. Certainly, Li's intention is not contented with the capture and presentation of pure textures. Blackboard, formulas and geometric elements also try to imply what artists want to demonstrate.

“Water of Radical Signs”, the sewage tank, and residency records of 「Artist Talk」newspaper have become the core of this exhibition. And here, we invite every audience to join us get a rare sight of the artist Li Wenguang's most recent art practice.

李文光生于1985年，现工作生活于上海松江。自2004年开始绘画创作至今，历经了几个阶段对绘画语言形式进行的多元化尝试。而富有代表性的几何图式则肇始于其2012年的艺术实践，并一直延续至今。

Li Wenguang, born in 1985, is now working and living in Shanghai.  Since 2004 when he started his creation, he has made diverse attempts in the form of art language. He has developed and he continues developing the representative geometric pattern from 2012 till now.
