1At the moment, there hasn’t been a universally accepted definition of “media art” yet. But generally speaking, it refers to artworks accomplished through technological means (and the so-called “media” refers to any medium to transmit or store information). Practice in the field of audio-visual media could be traced back to the 19th century when “zoetrope” was firstly invented. “New media art”, a more “hit” concept nowadays, could basically be seen as an equivalent to “media art” in terms of their historical developments and the genres they contain, which mainly include video art, digital art, internet art, sound art, game and VR.
