FENNEL STALK OF PROMETHEUSZHANG LIHUI SOLO EXHIBITION姚磊,张力晖丨Yao Lei, Zhang Lihui空间站 北京市朝阳区酒仙桥路4号798艺术区中一街 | Space Station, NO.4 Jiuxianqiao Rd, 798 Art District, Beijing来看画前最好重新读读《被缚的普罗米修斯》和《威尼斯的流浪汉》,“茴香枝”与“小染匠”仿佛两个相互缠绕的意象在空间中铺展开,那是两个年轻画家有关绘画——这种古老技艺的对话。在埃斯库罗斯的悲剧里,能预言未来的大神不仅盗下天火,而且干脆将一切技艺传授给人类,即使他早就望见宙斯愤怒的闪电和自己被啄食的肝脏;在萨特的评传中,丁托列托,同时有着如狂的骄傲和愚蠢的谦卑、有限的野心和无止境的霉运,被整个威尼斯排挤、囚禁,在王者提香的阴影下凿壁偷光,伺机反击。两个反叛者,共演着一个被忧虑折磨的机会主义者的故事。

“茴香枝”作为一种茎杆中空的干草,再加上它的伞状花冠,俨然的引火之炬,被普罗米修斯选中隐藏火种。在姚磊的画中,火焰的生成、聚散,在荒芜的世界播散,浸透着宿命和虚无,仿佛先知自己所说的,他播种在人类心中的不过是些盲目的希望。想象中的风景,在野火和灰烬的映衬下,越发得空远,预示着一种生成和消亡间的转化,看似凝固静止,变化却发生在一瞬间。

“小染匠”是丁托列托意大利语的原义,是威尼斯人对画家雅各布·康明戏谑的称呼。但如果到过威尼斯就会明白,这个昵称无论褒贬都带给观者真实的压迫,这是一个凭借着数量和速度制胜的画家。这个威尼斯画坛的局外人,必须同时拥有精湛的技艺、旺盛的精力和些许狡诈才能站住脚。张力晖在画中向画家致敬,就像一个小姑娘向老前辈讨教。同样在艺术和生活中漂泊,年轻的画家要为她敬奉的神明建造一座庙宇,而这座庙宇又浸透着她自身的模样。同样是对神话的转写,女神们被一层层迅捷的笔触涂抹,性感的身躯并未消隐,而是在动态色彩的呼应下跳脱出来。这混沌的欲望无疑是一种女性身体体验,一种她在丁托列托的绘画中观察到的体验,一切力量和热情的来源。这是一场高加索山巅上的天神与威尼斯水城中的囚徒的对话,正是对自由的渴望让两者被束缚住手脚,但被捆缚的欲望反而聚集着惊人的能量。 "Fennel Stalk" and "Little Dyer"It's better to read Prometheus Bound and The Venetian Pariah again before seeing the painting. "Fennel stalk" and "little dyer", two intertwined images spread out in space, are a dialogue between two young painters about the painting, an ancient art. In the tragedy of Aeschylus, the great god who can foretell the future not only stole fire from heaven, but even taught all the arts to people although he had already seen the angry lightning of Zeus and the pecked liver of his own. In Sartre's critical biography, Tintoretto, with his mad pride and foolish humility, limited ambition and endless bad luck, was banished and imprisoned by the whole Venice, chipping away at the wall in the shadow of Titian, the king, and waiting to fight back. The two rebels played the story of opportunists tormented by anxiety.

"Fennel stalk", as the hay with hollow stalk, was chosen by Prometheus to hide the fire; and it became the torch to light a fire with its umbrella-shaped corolla. In Yao Lei's painting, the flame was generated, gathered and scattered, and spread in the barren world, saturated with fatalism and nothingness, as if the prophet himself said that he had planted in the human mind only blind hope. The imagined landscape, set off by the wildfire and ash, grows ever far, indicating a transformation between birth and death, seemingly frozen and static, but occurring in an instant.

"Little dyer" is the primary meaning of Tintoretto in Italian, it's Venetians' joking name for the painter Jacob Cumming. But anyone who has been to Venice will understand that this nickname brings the viewer real oppression no matter whether it is praise or blame. He is a painter who wins by numbers and speed. This outsider to Venetian painting circle could only gain a firm footing with exquisite skills, strong energy and a little cunning. Zhang Lihui paid a tribute to the painter in her painting, just like a little girl asking for advice from the senior. Also wandering in art and life, the young painter hoped to build a temple for the god she worshipped, and the temple was impregnated with her own image. During the transfer of the myth, the goddesses are painted by layers of swift brushwork; their sexy bodies did not disappear, but jumped out in the echo of dynamic colors. Such chaotic desire is undoubtedly an experience of female body, an experience she observes in Tintoretto's paintings, and the source of all power and passion.It's a conversation between a god on the top of Caucasus Mountain and a prisoner in Venice the City of Water.
