The concept of "necessary redundancy" was proposed by Mr. Gu Zhenqing, the curator of this exhibition. There is a certain useful uselessness to redundancy, just as art is to the future society. It is the key factor that will distinguish humanity from strong artificial intelligence and allow for its continued existence. Thus, the research of redundancy has become a means for Hu Qingyan to rationally analyze, grasp and speculate on the entire objective world through practice.
Works from different series including Empty Cube, Go in One Ear and Out The Other, Narrative by a Pile of Clay would be presented in this exhibition. As they find balance between order and disorder, boundaries and boundlessness, they also manifest a posture of sustainable development. In this way, Hu Qingyan's intimate, physical actions transform material objects into philosophical thinking that represents, reflects and even reconstructs the interconnecting links between people and nature, thus generating the spiritual meaning of the works.
