年前的两周上海又进入了一种紧张的状态。早上出门时发现，小区大门的进出方式又恢复到了去年疫情期间的状态——我们的生活从起点又回到了起点，2020年，难道从来没有发生过？2012年以来，画廊每年都会刊印年册，而2020年的这本是不是会变得尤为珍贵？因为它记录的所有内容都悬停在通向某个未知之地的9¾月台。

画廊年册中始终有几个固定的栏目，用来总结过去一年里我们做过的博览会、展览以及艺术家们的新作等等，不过今年的博览会栏目竟差点开了天窗。过去一年里，由于节奏慢下来，我们得以仔细思索了一些之前有过一闪念的想法，并缓缓启动了一些新的事情，这也算是一种收获吧。2020年12月开始的线上展览项目“务虚会”就是其中的一个。

回想跨入2020年的那一刻时，未曾想到它会是那样的一年。虽然我们禁足在了方寸之地，不得翻转和大口呼吸，但是似乎全球化的意识却变得比以往任何时刻都更加清晰，人类也从未如此高度一致地共同经历和面对同一个困顿局面，无力且无解。艺术在这种情况下并没有什么用，每天的生活既真实又虚幻，偶尔的小确幸让人总有末世狂欢的担忧。

2021，我们要好好过。

Shanghai increased its alert level just two weeks in prior to the Chinese New York due to newly emerged local cases. My residential compound has reinstalled a strict gate policy, which reminded me of the early days of the pandemic. It seems our daily life has circled back to when it all began, or has the year 2020 never even happened? The gallery never missed a beat publishing its yearbook since 2012, and this year’s new edition is deemed to be extra special. What recorded here could be described as a state of suspension, waiting to embark on a journey to the unknown.

The yearbook has always had a few fixed sections dedicated to the gallery's own programs, the art fairs, and the artists' recent achievements. I feel relieved that we have something for the art fair section after all. As the art world slowing down in the past year, we were enabled with careful contemplation on ideas that previously lingered at the back of our mind, and steadily kicked off some new additions. That was what made last year fruitful. The online program "Nonphysical," launched in December of 2020, was one of the outcomes.

Looking back at the moment when we stepped into 2020, we had never thought it would unfold itself as it did. Though trapped in a restricted routine and had to breathe under a mask, we have gained a global awareness sharper than ever before. The humankind is faced with a highly unified situation and a dire strait, and in short supply of solution. In this context, art could hardly be instrumentalized. As our daily life becomes a mix of the real and the illusory, we cannot know for sure that the occasional silver lining is not an apocalyptic glow.

In 2021, let's live well.
