呼吸·“有界”
我们可以看到,在现下的当代艺术领域,计算机、交互技术以及人工智能等学科与艺术创作在很多层面上的边界上愈渐模糊,这也引起笔者对于“有界”这一概念的思考。新的技术与学科交叉,会如何为艺术创作带来新的突破?边界的清晰与模糊又给艺术家带来了哪些思考?
基于此,南京艺术学院美术馆希望借由持续、有计划的展出此类多感官维度与技术层面的沉浸式交互性作品,对当代艺术中的学科跨界交融现象做出进一步的研究与探讨。此次项目邀请了南京艺术学院传媒学院的ITEC团队,以计算机编程为基础构建框架,呈现一场集编程、影像交互、生成音乐等方面多维度的实验性展览。展览英文名称为“Brounded loop”,意为“有界循环”。
在皮埃纳.卡巴纳(法)所著的《杜尚访谈录》一书中,杜尚对于艺术家如何“存在”这一问题的阐释是:“一个艺术家必须被人知道他才存在。…我坚信一个艺术家作为媒介的作用。这个艺术家做出了什么东西,然后有一天由于大众的、观众的介入,他被承认了,然后他又被后代承认了。你是没法阻止这个过程的。简而言之,这是由两点构成的产物,一头是做出这东西的人,另一头是看到他的人,我给予后者和前者同样的重要性。”
是的,在笔者看来,艺术创作与观众之间的关系,亦是对于人性思索与探讨的共同体验,我们也可以说它具有于“呼吸”的概念,我们给予呼出与吸入等同的重要性。但就呼吸而言,它确是有界的。“有界”本是一个函数概念——大意为重复执行一组指令,重复次数不能大于某个预先确定的最大值,是一个有限的控制结构集。然而在汉语的多重语境下,它亦是一个充满哲学意味的名词。与“呼吸”联系在一起,笔者不禁想到另一个关于空气质量的专有名词——“PM2.5”。我们可以发现,“PM2.5”的使用,是以城市为界的一个变量。某某城市某天的“PM2.5”数值,决定了生活在这个城市的人们是否可以安心的户外出行与运动。这便是“呼吸有界”的一个实例。这种“有界”,与我们个体、生命、社群、交流、城市、地域、宇宙等因素息息相关,而本次项目的作品,也希望借由这一主题,引发更为多元化的思考与探索。
人的个体与智性、与艺术确是无界,因为它们本就相伴而生。与此同时,人们也不能缺少有界的范围与约束感。古语云:不以规矩,不能成方圆。这方圆之间,或者说人和人生活与视域的方寸之间,便是界。

“Brounded loop”
We can feel that recently, the boundaries between contemporary art, computing, interactive technologies and artificial intelligence are becoming vague, which makes me think about the idea of ‘Youjie’. If we bring new technology and science with art together, what will emerge and what breakthrough can be brought?
Based on the certain consideration, the Art museum of NUA wishes to study the multi-area fusion in contemporary art through preplanned and continuous exhibitions of immersive works related to diverse sensations. This project is conducted by team ITEC, who is planning to program the whole visual and musical effects of this experimental show with the help of particular algorithms. The show’s named ‘Bounded Loop’.
In ‘Interview with Duchamp’ by Pierre Cabanne, Duchamp gives his answer to the question how an artist live. His response is the following. An artist must be known to live. He insisted that an artist serves as a medium, seeking for acknowledgment with his work after the interactions with the public. You cannot stop the process. Two things take part in the process. One is the person who created this, and the another one is the person who sees it. I weigh them the same.
As far as I’m concern, the connection between art and viewers is also a connection between humanity and reality. We can say it is breathing and we value ‘inhale’ as much as ‘exhale’. Breath is bounded. It is a function, executing a certain amount of instructions repeatedly. The number of repetitions is a limited controlling set, less than a preset value. In Chinese, it is a psychological term. When talking about breath, i think of another term—PM 2.5. We can easily find that the city-based variable, PM2.5, is dependent on the index of days. It gives implications whether people in this city can safely go outsides. This is an example of ‘bounded breath’. “youjie’ is closely related to every individual, every life, every social community, every city and every area. The works about to be shown are meant to lead to deeper thoughts on this topic.
Wisdom and art is boundless, because they live and die together. At the same time, People cannot live without the concept of ‘Youjie’. There’s an old Chinese idiom which is ‘不以规矩,不能成方圆’, which means one cannot draw a cirle or a square without the help of a ruler or a pair of compasses. ‘youjie’ exists in squares and circles, and in the space between people and people.

车辆禁止进入,请尽量绿色出行。
作品完整循坏体验时间约为十分钟。
请观众按出入口提示有序进入展区。展厅内外右向为入口,左向为出口。
展厅内的光束区域以交互控制不同的视觉效果。参与交互的观众人数不同,其效果也不同。单独或者相互叠加,作品会随着时间推移形成多元化的视觉呈现。

Please enter the showroom via the entrance on the right-hand side, and exit through the door on the left-hand side.
The lighting in the showroom is controlled by interactions of viewers. In a form of time-variant display, the visual lighting effect outputs a result factoring number of viewers, overlaying areas, etc.

ITEC成立于2018年,是南京本地一支年轻的新媒体数字艺术团体,致力于探索前沿科技与艺术相结合的领域。团队中拥有:新媒体艺术家、电子工程师、软件工程师、结构工程师、算法设计师、交互设计师、声音设计师、动画、影视、三维制作等各领域人才,成员之间相互碰撞、探索,创作出新的作品。
