

时间之维
时间,是一个科学的命题,也是一个哲学的命题,人类对时间最朴素的感受就是日出日落、是四季轮回,是父母的老去、是儿女的成长……
对时间的精确计量,是现代性的事物,精准的时间是现代社会的理性基础,有了精确的时间观,我们才能够度量、才能够完成人与人之间的约定、才会有准确协调的步骤、才会有统一的社会管理。
然而,对时间的感受和表达又是很主观和个人化的,关乎人的经历、情感、个性和想象力,同济大学和飞亚达这次关于时间可视化的联合课题,作品中表现出的创造力、想象力,对前沿科技的融会贯通以及作品的丰富性和多样性,让我印象深刻,为之振奋和鼓舞,也祝同学们在未来的设计生涯里,为人类社会贡献更多精彩的创意。

时间究竟是几维的?时间是波还是粒子?每个个体对时间的感知有差别吗?
时间也许亘古不变,但有关时间的设想却伴随人类文明的发展,不断推陈出新并且刷新人们的认知。本次课程由同济大学设计创意学院与飞亚达联合策划,面向数据与AI时代的计时与读时,在学习和了解计时历史与钟表文化的基础上,收集与时间相关的图像、声音以及文本数据,再通过数字工具将其转化为影像、纹理、交互甚至诗歌。探索和展现当代年轻人心中的时间观以及对时间本质的思考。

How many dimensions is time? Is time a wave or a particle? Does each individual has a different perception of time?
Time may never change, but the assumptions about time have been accompanied by the development of human civilization, constantly innovating and refreshing people's cognition. This course is jointly planned by TONGJI D&I and FIYTA Group. On the basis of learning and understanding the history of the watchmaking industry, the students collect time-related images, sounds, and text data, and then transform them into images, patterns, interactions, and even poetry.

时间是什么?为了能更加精确地衡量时间,我们发明了时钟、手表。钟表就像是一个容器,时间就像是一堆堆零散的粒子,为了让我们能更好地理解时间,我们把时间粒子装进手表这个容器中,将它规范化。
在本设计中,以飞亚达各大系列手表作为时间的载体,通过提取各系列手表颜色进行手表抽象化展示,深入了解品牌各系列设计的初衷,同时用户可以与各个粒子进行互动体验,来探索时间的不同形态,速度及可能性,FIYTICLE传达的理念为:虽然有时我们想尝试挣脱时间的束缚,但是现实却是无法挣脱,时间具有自己的魔力,因此把握当下最重要。
FIYTICLE在帮助用户更好理解飞亚达产品的同时,也会得到属于自己对时间的独特见解。
What is time?
In order to measure time more accurately, we invented clocks and watches.
A clock is like a container, and time is like a pile of scattered particles. In order to make us better understand time, we put the time particles into the watch and normalize time.
In this design, we take each series of FIYTA watches as the carrier of time, abstract the watches through extracting color of various series watch, and understand original intention of the brand series design deeply. At the same time, the user can interact with the various particles to explore the different forms, speed and possibility of time. What FIYTICLE wants to convey is said below, although sometimes we want to try to break free from the shackles of time, the reality is impossible to break free. Time has its own magic, so it is important to grasp the present moment. FIYTICLE provides users with their own insight into time while helping them better understand FIYTA products.

时间感知因人而异。
人们不能像看到一棵树或听到一首歌那样直接地感知时间,因此对时间下一个公认的定义是十分困难的。就像不同的学科对时间有着不同的解读,不同的人对时间的感知也是独特的,是线性还是非线性?是虚拟还是现实?是单项还是多项?这让作者对他人世界观中的时间定义感到好奇。
基于一些学者对时间的讨论和观点,作者设置了一个开放性的讨论环境,通过数字语言将图像和文本进行结合,设定了一系列可调节的“时间参数”,观者可以从视觉的角度来感受时间的形状,从文字的角度体会时间带来的意象,这两种维度让时间的定义带来了更多中的体验与可能。
Time perception varies from person to person.
People cannot perceive time as directly as they can see a tree or hear a song, so it is very difficult to come up with an accepted definition of time. Just as different disciplines have different interpretations of time, different people have unique perceptions of time, is it linear or nonlinear? Is it virtual or real? Is it singular or multiple? This makes the authors curious about the definition of time in others' worldviews.
Based on some scholars' discussions and views on time, the author sets up an open discussion environment, combining images and texts through digital language, and setting a series of adjustable "time parameters", so that viewers can feel the shape of time from a visual perspective and experience the imagery brought by time from a textual perspective. These two dimensions bring more experiences and possibilities to the definition of time.

人的行为,包含动作、语言、思考等,都是过程,而时间自始至终都贯穿其中。将“瞬间”作为在时间和人的状态之间切换的方式,表达出每个个体在画面中处于同一时间中,但其实每个人都处于自己生命中的不同时间段中的理念。人们产生交集的方式大致有两种,一种是有计划性的、可预测的,类似于齐舞;另一种是随机的、不可预测的,类似于后现代舞蹈当中的即兴接触。在画面中可以看出两种交集方式的本质区别,即运动方式和规律的不同。
人们的时间故事是从人类个体,到群像,再到有计划的交集,最后是随机的交集。其中,随机的交集不是任意交集,而是在有计划性的内在基础上,忘记固有规则之后,产生的比有计划的运动更加自由的运动形态。
Human actions, including movement, speech and thought, are all processes, and time is present throughout. The 'moment' is used as a way of switching between time and the human condition, conveying the idea that each individual is in the same time in the picture, but in fact each person is in a different time period in their own life. There are two broad ways in which people intersect, one is planned and predictable, similar to a dance in unison, and the other is random and unpredictable, similar to improvised contact in post-modern dance. The essential difference between the two modes of intersection can be seen in the images, namely the difference in the mode and pattern of movement.
People's stories of time move from individual human beings, to group images, to planned intersections, and finally to random intersections. Where the random intersection is not an arbitrary intersection, but a freer form of movement than the planned movement that arises after the inherent basis of plannedness and the forgetting of inherent rules.

潮汐显时| Tide Clock

潮汐是一种具有周期往复性的自然现象,与钟表的运动不谋而合。
利用P5.js模拟海浪的运动,并将浪高设置与时间绑定,利用潮水高度直观反映每半天的时间进度,并且在接受到外界信号如触摸屏幕或有行人经过,海浪褪去留下当时的时刻,就如同留在沙滩上的贝壳;当外界信号消失,海浪再度上涌将时刻冲刷掉,感受时间的短暂停留与周而复始。
Tide is a natural phenomenon with periodic reciprocation, which coincides with the movement of clocks and watches. P5.js is used to simulate the movement of waves, and the wave height setting is bound with the time. The tide height is used to directly reflect the time progress of every half day. When receiving external signals such as touch screen or pedestrians passing by, the waves fade away and leave the moment, just like shells on the beach; When the external signal disappears, the wave will rise again and wash away all the time, feeling the short stay and cycle of time.

倒计时是从未来的某一时刻往回计算时间,当我们能够预判未来时,我们才能根据未来事件发生的时间进行倒计时。比如,一天的最后时刻。
作品是与真实世界同步的图形化倒计时,展示着距离今天结束还有多少时间。借助分割理念,以方形、三角形、圆形的数量指代一天中剩余的时、分、秒的额度。当一天刚刚开始时,图形繁复,正如我们对时间的模糊感知;倒计时持续,几何图形渐少,我们对时间流逝的感知才越发清晰起来。零点时刻,一切消失,转瞬再满载,从头开始新一天的倒计时;周而复始,日复一日。
倒计时是以终为始,以倒推逻辑出发。为了即将到来的某个关键时刻,把握好当下的每分每秒。
Countdown is the process of counting back time to a certain point in the future. When we are able to predict the future, we can count down time based on when future events will occur. At the end of the day, for example.
It's a graphical countdown in sync with the real world, showing how much time is left until the end of the day. With the idea of segmentation, the number of squares, triangles, and circles denotes the amount of hours, minutes, and seconds remaining in a day. When the day begins, it is as complicated as our vague perception of time; as the countdown continues and the geometry diminishes, our perception of the passage of time becomes clearer. At zero o 'clock, all disappeared, then full in a twinkling, start the countdown to a new day; Over and over again, day after day.
Countdown starts for the end, starting with backward logic. Seize every moment, for a crucial moment to come.

静态的时间

我们可以从多个角度看待这个世界,从时间的角度也可划分为动态和静态;从动态的角度,这个世界瞬息万变,故事在不断的发生和被记录在史册;静态,即降维的角度,就像《星际穿越》里男主从五维空间看我们这个四维宇宙。在高维度空间,时间作为实体存在,所以我们这个世界在诞生之初,万物的运行逻辑都已写好,就像一首已经谱写好的乐谱,万物根据乐谱分毫不差的运动,时间便是唯一的指针。
本设计从静态的角度看待这个世界,将事物在一定时间内的的空间运行轨迹,即一个三维曲线,使用傅立叶级数拆解成若干三角函数的累加,就像y=sin(t),时间作为唯一参数连接空间与时间,用这种方法去还原时间的乐谱,试图去描述在高维空间里时间的形状。

My design looks at the world from a static point of view. The space trajectory of things in a certain period of time, namely a three-dimensional curve, is disintegrated into the sum of several trigonometric functions by Fourier series, just like y=sin(t). Time is the only parameter connecting space and time, and in this way, the music score of time is restored. Trying to describe the shape of time in higher dimensions.

本项目旨在利用可视化的方式对时间概念进行再表达。在数字化的时代,时间概念主观性与客观性之间的对比变得更加显著。本项目利用虚拟与实体交互相结合的方式阐述对于时间这一二元碰撞性特质的理解。
利用人工智能工具学习大量现有的人造计时器,最终得到人工智能学习的一种客观性的计时器设计。用更加艺术的方式将人工智能生成手表设计进行再创作,最终得到抽象的时间河流作为时间客观性的视觉化的初步表现。之后使用数字艺术工具,将时间的河流进行视觉化表现成为一种生成式图样。这种图样最终成为了时间客观性的表达。在另一方面利用移动终端中所保存的个人生活模式数据,赋予图样颜色及涟漪,作为对于时间主观性的集中体现。最终搭建捕捉人动作与数据的装置,实时交互改变作品的颜色以及波纹,完成了在虚拟和实体两个层面的交互。
This project aims to re-express the concept of time using visualization. In the digital age, the contrast between the subjectivity and objectivity of the concept of time has become more pronounced. This project uses a combination of virtual and physical interactions to illustrate an understanding of the colliding binary qualities of time.
Artificial intelligence tools are used to learn from a large number of existing artificial timepieces, and eventually an objective timepiece design is obtained for artificial intelligence learning. The AI-generated watch design is recreated in a more artistic way, resulting in an abstract river of time as a preliminary visual representation of the objectivity of time. Then, using digital art tools, the river of time is visualized as a generative pattern. This pattern eventually becomes the expression of the objectivity of time. On the other hand, use the personal life pattern data stored in the mobile terminal to give colors and ripples to the pattern as a centralized expression of the subjectivity of time. Finally, an installation capturing human movement and data is built to change the color and ripples of the work in real-time interaction, completing the interaction on both virtual and physical levels.

无形时间,有形注解。
人类开始不满足于对时间的粗略度量,制表业也越来越专注于精准度。游丝的面世,擒纵结构的优化,让人开始忽略机芯和表盘上的传统工艺美学。时间宇宙的设计概念是数字化机芯纹理,结合时间的意义赋予在机芯和表盘纹理上。
时间是无形的,覃羿豪以自身对时间的理解将时间解构为诞生,运动,分裂和毁灭四个维度。“诞生”启发于向日葵绽放的有机形式赋予环形日内瓦纹动态特征。“运动”以视觉错位的方式去诠释时间的往复,压缩和延展。“分裂”以分秒时三个量化时间的指标去抽象表盘纹理。“毁灭”以宇宙星辰燃烧的三种状态去表现时间的终止。四者的往复和结合为时间的轮回,通过代码及数字化手段去融合时间和表盘纹理。
Intangible time with tangible notes.
Mankind became dissatisfied with the rough measurement of time, while watchmaking became increasingly focused on precision. The appearance of the hairspring and the optimization of the escapement structure made people start to ignore the traditional aesthetics of craftsmanship on the movement and the dial. The design concept of Universe of Time is to digitize the movement textures, combining the meaning of time given on the movement and dial textures.
Time is invisible, and Chin Yihao combines his own understanding of time to deconstruct it into four dimensions: birth, movement, fragment and destruction. "Birth" is inspired by the organic form of a sunflower in bloom, giving a dynamic character to the radial Côtes de Genève. "Movement" is a visual dislocation that interprets the reciprocation, compression and extension of time. "Fragment" abstracts the dial texture with three indicators that quantify time: minutes, seconds and hours. "Destruction" uses the three states of the burning universe to express the end of time. The combination of the four is the reincarnation of time, and the fusion of time and dial texture through code and digital means.

智能手机是迄今为止最受人们欢迎和喜爱的科技产品,它们的快速普及威胁到手表等一系列产品的生存。看时间似乎成了手表不太重要的功能。
生活中,不同的情绪会影响我们对时间的主观体验,我们觉得快乐的时光稍纵即逝,悲伤的时光过得很慢。该设计旨在打破计时永恒不变的规则,从“以人为本”的设计理念出发,将人的主观感受与时间相结合,让用户可以拥有属于自己的时间。
人们历来都对宇宙有独到的见解:“上下四方为宇,古往今来为宙。”,时间与空间是我们存在的最基本要素。“位置为宇,手表为宙。”,拥有这款手表设计便可以创造出属于自己的宇宙,所谓“一人一世界”。该设计选取宇宙中的视觉元素,并通过p5.js进行代码提取实现视觉要素特点,慢速时间的范围更广而加速时间更为紧凑。
Own time is a watch that users can alter the time speed on their own.
Smart phones are by far the most popular and preferred technological items, and their fast adoption is jeopardizing the existence of a number of products, including watches. Timekeeping appears to be a secondary function of the watch.
Different emotions will influence our subjective perception of time throughout our lives. We get the impression that good moments pass quickly and sad times take a long time to pass. Starting with the "people-oriented" design idea, which combines people's subjective sentiments with time, the design attempts to disrupt the eternal and unchangeable norms of timekeeping, allowing users to have their own time.
People have always had a unique perspective on the cosmos: "The universe is up and down, the four directions are the universe, and the universe is all ages." The most fundamental aspects of human existence are time and space. "The watch is the cosmos, and position is the universe." You may construct your own cosmos with this watch design, the so-called "one person, one world." The universe's visual elements are chosen, and the code is extracted using p5.js to actualize the visual elements' features. The slow time spans a larger area, but the rapid time is more condensed.
