Alex Israel is here! The CLOUD Salon this time features a conversation between artist Alex Israel and Jeffrey Deitch, former director of MOCA and renowned curator, in which Jeffrey Deitch would ask a series of questions to Alex Israel, analyzing the artist's artistic growth path step by step, leading the public to explore the multifaceted cross-border creative concepts of Alex Israel, the California chameleon. Through his artworks, he reflects on the nature of today's pop culture and entertainment consumption.

Art is like a language, and learning art is about learning how to use art to communicate like any other language. In the online talk, Alex Israel will recall the origins of his interest in art and take us back to the conversations he had with art workers when he was young, in which he initiated a dialogue with the art world.

In 2010, our society witnessed the birth of streaming media. Inspired by The Oprah Winfrey Show, Alex Israel made a portrait of the city of Los Angeles and the people in it in As IT LAys, a talk show. He continues to analyze the relationship between mass media and the presentation of public life and leads viewers to think about the realities behind the glamorous surfaces of celebrities.

Alex Israel's works are mostly inspired by his hometown of Los Angeles, and this salon will combine his own collaborative practice in Hollywood and his driving experience in Los Angeles to give an individual interpretation of "Los Angeles".

Alex Israel is not only an artist with representative works of painting, sculpture, and installation, but also a director, writer, businessman, and fashion designer who has explored art, brand, culture, and business in different capacities. In this edition of Cloud Salon, he will share his story of cross-border collaboration, talk about the similarities and differences between the design and art creation of Freeway sunglasses, and explain his artistic practice and extensions in many aspects.

Born in Los Angeles, California in 1982, he now lives and works in Los Angeles. His work places Los Angeles at the center of understanding American culture and the American Dream, using artistic practice to explore popular media, Hollywood, and the cult of celebrity. Israel's practice includes high-profile collaborations with Bret Easton Ellis, Louis Vuitton, Rimowa and Snapchat, as well as his own Freeway Eyewear eyewear brand and Infrathin Apparel clothing. He hosts the talk show As it LAys which is airing on YouTube, and his art film SPF-18 is now airing on Netflix after touring high schools across the United States.

Alex Israel has had solo exhibitions at several art institutions, including the Dijon Center for Contemporary Art, the Nasher Foundation Sculpture Center in Dallas, and the Huntington Library-Art Gallery-Botanical Gardens in San Marino; his work is in the collections of numerous art institutions worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York.

Jeffrey Deitch plays an important role in the field of contemporary art as an artist, writer, curator, and agent, and was the director of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (LA MoCA) from 2010 to 2013. He is actively involved in the exchange and development of contemporary art between China and the United States. In 1982, he brought Andy Warhol to China and curated Warhol's first exhibition in China; in 1996, he curated Shanghai artist Chen Zhen's exhibition for the first gallery in the United States. He owns Deitch Projects, a stalwart of the New York gallery scene (the gallery was ranked #15 on FLASH Art's 2008 Global Gallery 100 list), and is an art advisor to some of the world's leading consortia and private collectors, and was at one time the head of Sotheby's 20th Century Art Gallery program.

The Public Education Program is one of the four core components of Fosun Foundation, divided into exhibition-related programs and parallel programs, which are integrated into Fosun Foundation's exhibitions, programs, and events throughout the year in line with Fosun Foundation's vision of promoting public awareness, understanding, and participation in global contemporary art.

Fosun Foundation's public education programs are open to members and audiences of all ages, offering original and co-curated programs in five series, including CLOUD Salon (lectures), CLOUD Screen (screenings), CLOUD Theater (performances), CLOUD Workshop (art workshops), and Cloud Wander (white-collar events).
