在《有形之光-无题》中，艺术家和他的伴侣面对镜头，重现了安妮·莱博维茨 1980 年拍摄小野洋子和约翰·列侬的标志性照片。原照片是列侬在纽约公寓楼外被枪杀前几个小时拍摄的，莱博维茨的照片记录了这对夫妇在一起的最后几个小时，并将爱、种族和文化差异、失落和希望的象征性问题具体化。在中西方的对话情境日益复杂的情况之下，王宁德和他的伴侣试图通过《无题》向他们致敬，他们所提出的这些问题从未像今天这样显得重要。

In Form of Light - Untitled, the artist and his long-time partner pose for the camera, recreating Annie Leibovitz’s iconic 1980 photograph of Yoko Ono and John Lennon. Taken just hours before Lennon was shot and killed outside of his apartment building in New York, Leibovitz’s photograph documents the couple’s final hours together, and crystalizes a symbolic message of love, difference, loss, and hope. As the dialogue between China and the West becomes increasingly complex, through the iraction of creating Form of Light - Untitled WANG and his partner seek to pay tribute to Lennon and Ono’s message, which has never been more relevant than today.

始于2013年底的《有形之光》系列呈现了王宁德对摄影基本元素的探索。所呈现的效果仿佛悬浮在现实之上的幻像，由数百个单位组成的网格图像如同柏拉图“洞穴寓言”墙上的阴影，这个影像装置不仅暴露了摄影过程的本质和奥秘，更提示了光的存在和现实的虚幻。

Begun in late 2013, the Form of Light series presents WANG Ningde’s investigation into the basic elements of photography: light and shadow. The works in the series do not display photographic images as such, instead they are constructed in such a way that the presence of light reveals only the shadows of images. Like the shadow on the wall of Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave,” these grid images composed of hundreds of units present what appear to be mirages floating above reality. The works of this series not only illustrate the nature of the photography process, they hint at the existence of light and the illusion of reality.

WANG Ningde (b.1972) currently lives and works in Beijing. WANG’s work has been shown at ARoS Aarhus Art Museum (Danmark, 2020), National Gallery of Victoria (Australia, 2019), Fort Mason Festival Pavilion (USA, 2107), Bryce Wolkowitz Gallery (USA, 2018), Städtische Galerie (Garmany, 2017), Kunstkraftwerk Leipzig (Garmany, 2016), Museum Folkwang (Garmany, 2016), Paramount Pictures Studios (USA, 2015), Alessandria Photo Biennale (Italy, 2011), Limn gallery (USA, 2007) and other institutions.
