FENG Lianghong was born in Shanghai in 1962, he started his abstract painting practice during his study in Shanghai Arts & Crafts College, and graduated in 1983. In 1985, his works were shown in “Modern Painting: Six Men Group Exhibition” in Fudan University. He received his M.F.A. from Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, Beijing in 1989; in the same year he participated in “China/Avant-Garde Exhibition”, National Museum, and taught at the Art Department of East China Normal University.
He moved to New York in 1990, and started his art studio in Brooklyn, New York. While investigating into the abstract expressionism, minimalism, and concept arts, he integrated Chinese philosophies in his practice and navigated the route of abstract painting for decades. In 2006, he moved back to China and is now based in Beijing. His works are widely exhibited in domestic and international institutions, including Beijing Inside-Out Art Museum, Yuan Art Museum, Today Art Museum, Museum Angerlehner, Epoch Art Museum, Shanghai Minsheng Art Museum, and National Art Museum of China.
