Marlon Kroll经常在作品中把“旧的”当作“新的”来运用,将熟悉和陌生的形式重新组合、适应和交换,但呈现结果不是后现代的。虽然最终成品是具象的,但他的作品重视“发现”多于“计划”,多由探索性的、以过程和工作室为基础的实践构成,意图通过“物质”达至“隐喻”、通过“对比”形成“叙事”、通过“姿态”建立“形式”。他鼓励模糊性、多重视角和内隐的表现模式,这是他的创作概念、形式和个人立场。
