《邪恶绘画之一》以瀑布和山峦做框，镶嵌远方的中产阶级家居场景。锋利又富有流动感的山尖与清洁而模糊的室内风景，都揭示出画家在绘画中试图精进的技术目标：用画笔定格一种持续变动的物质，就像闪烁的火苗那样，实实在在，又不可把握。

In Evil Paintings No.1, mountains and waterfalls frame a scene of a middle-class home interior in the distance. The sharp yet fluid mountain peaks, and the crisp yet blurred interior scene, both reveal the technical goals the artist is pursuing in his painting: to use the brush to fix a continually shifting material, like a flickering flame, very real, yet impossible to grasp.

艺术家

魏晓光1986年生于内蒙古，2010年获中央美术学院油画系第二工作室学士，2014年获纽约亨特学院艺术硕士学位。

魏晓光的作品跨越具象与抽象间的鸿沟，而深深嵌入“后绘画死亡”的历史阶段。他的作品细致协调光源光感、材质与表面，有效地结合多种不同艺术传统和视觉语言的因素。魏晓光目前工作与生活在上海市，作品在纽约、上海和北京等地展出。

近期个展包括：“持久像素”，美国纽约SLEEPCENTER（2017）；“老实”，美国纽约Fresh Window Gallery（2016）。群展和艺博会项目包括：“传言”，美国纽约SPRING/BREAK Art Show 2021（2021）；“我是你的维吉尔”，美国纽约Super Dutchess画廊（2018）；“路边野餐”，前波画廊，美国纽约（2018）；“触及的自然”，美国纽约Fresh Window画廊（2017）等。

Born in 1986 in Inner-Mongolia, China, Wei Xiaoguang gained a BFA from the Central Academy of Fine Art in Beijing in 2010 and an MFA from Hunter College in New York in 2014. He has exhibited in New York, Shanghai and Beijing.

Overcoming the distinction between representation and abstraction, Wei Xiaoguang’s work is deeply embedded in the post “Death of Painting” period. By carefully modulating effects of light, textures and surfaces, his paintings effectively combine multiple visual languages and artistic traditions. He lives and works in Beijing and Shanghai, where he is an instructor for the Institute of Management of Art and Design at the Central Academy of Fine Arts.

Recent solo shows include: Durable Pixels, SLEEPCENTER, New York (2017); Humble, Fresh Window Gallery, New York (2016). Recent group shows and art fairs include: HEARSAY: HERESY, SPRING/BREAK Art Show 2021 presented by Christine Park Gallery, New York (2021); I’m yer Virgil, Super Dutchess, New York (2018); Roadside Picnic, Chambers Fine Art, New York (2018); Touched Nature, Fresh Window Gallery, New York (2017), etc.
