Shape the Future-The 8th Duolun Youth Art Exhibition Artist Lists Announcement
The works solicitation of Shape the Future-The 8th Duolun Youth Art Exhibition which is hosted by Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art has been successfully completed since August in 2021. Through experts' nomination and artists' submission , and after primary election, selection and final evaluation, three judges Wang Nanming, Jiang Mei and Shi Hantao, together with the planning team from the museum carefully selected the received works. At this moment, we are honored to announce the 18 artists/groups selected for this exhibition:Cai Yuxiao, Cao Shu, Chen Wencun, Guo Cheng, (He Chenghao, Zhan Shuoyu, Ma Songtao, Ye Guanyun), Long Pan, Pan Zishen, Shu Chutian, Tan Jing, Tong Wenmin, Wu Ziyang, Xia Jingxin, Xiang Zhenhua, Xu Guanyu, Yang Di, Yuan Keru, Zhu Xiang, Zhuo Ying.
Themed as shaping the future, the exhibition focuses on the common situation facing mankind today. On one hand, a series of technological developments, such as VR, AI and biological genetic science, have made living on the moon, human-machine interface and immortality of human consciousness a foreseeable future; Technology seems to move on forever, breaking through human limitations. On the other hand, world environmental pollution, climate change, and nuclear radiation crisis are spreading , and conflicts and crises in many parts of the world are intensifying. Expectations, unknowns, and uneasiness are always with us. The arrival of COVID-19 has dramatically and profoundly changed the whole world, forcing us to face life, survival, existing and the meaning of all this. What kind of future are we embracing? The 8th Shanghai Duolun Youth Art Exhibition invites artists to focus on the present and look to the future. Through thinking and expression of art works, they will regain the meaning of life and survival in the post-epidemic era, rebuild their cognition of themselves and the world, find the road to the future together, and transform the future with their thoughts today, which not only is out of a deep unease, observation and understanding of our present reality, but also a hope for an ultimate and better future.
As an important platform of public culture, art museums play a significant role in the evolution of contemporary social civilization. Being the first public art museum in China focusing on modern and contemporary art, Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art has founded the project Shanghai Duolun Youth Art Exhibition since 2004, and has been held for seven consecutive exhibitions with a biennial frequency. All the works exhibited in Shanghai Duolun Youth Art Exhibition show the depth of contemporary Chinese youth's cultural thinking and highlight the vitality of Chinese contemporary art.
The exhibition is scheduled to run from July 23rd to August 31st 2022 at Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art.
