The 3rd Anniversary of Pingshan Art Museum:
“Rebirth and Resonance” Collection Exhibition
For three years, Pingshan Art Museum, a contemporary art institution based in Shenzhen while embracing art in South China and beyond, is sprouting out of a public-oriented cultural “infrastructure” and blossoming into a “cultural highland in East Shenzhen” featuring diversity.
Against the complicated times inundated with both the old and new, as well as the symbiosis of multiple cultures, it’s imperative for us to honestly review all art researches and exhibition experiences on a regular basis, thus navigating our professional vision as an “independent knowledge producer” and honoring our commitment to “promote regional art development”. Our evolution from a new comer in 2019 to a versatile player in 2022 can never be achieved without the support of so many outstanding artists, designers, architects, curators and scholars in and abroad, with 25 high-quality exhibitions being staged, such as the opening exhibition “Unknown City”, the interdisciplinary trial “Nine-Tiered Pagoda: Spatial and Visual Magic”, as well as independent series like “Shenzhen Contemporary Artists” or “Hometown”. We also have public education programs such as “Four Seasons Academic Salon” and “PAM Kids Studio”, serving over 300,000 audience across the world, with more than 2 million effective views on media.
These “fundamentals” will all be kept with detailed visual descriptions, specific and unadorned, in the “Yearbook of Pingshan Art Museum (2019-2020)”, which will be displayed for the first time in this collection exhibition. With this “Record of Merit” in hand, we are also looking forward to facilitating more adequate and active inter-museum exchanges, thus forming a “resonant” artistic vibe and cultural ecology. Meanwhile, the exhibition will also present 21 representative PAM collection works based on our own academic positioning and researches. Multiple electronic archives and 360° panoramic virtual exhibition hall experience will also be available to the audience. From “Manifold Time” (Albert Weiss, 2015), our first collection, to “Transformation 2021-1” (XUE Feng, 2021), you may join us to look at the “original intention” of this public museum of contemporary art, and all the way through to its “future”.
