近来,熊佳翔贯彻着一套工作流程:将从电脑或手机上获得的图像,通过数码热转印技术印到弹力布料上,绷框导致图像拉扯变形,再将上框的布料在城市空间中展示、拍摄、转印。在《红粉朱楼》中,核心的图像是翻阅沃尔夫冈画册的阅读者和photoshop操作界面,它们分别被放置于化妆柜台和装修柜台的围挡上。顾名思义,《红粉朱楼》在呼应现代生活中对图像普遍的修正和美化,并暗示这一过程潜藏的层次化处理逻辑。

Recently, Xiong Jiaxiang has been following a process of printing images found on his computer or phone onto elastic cloth using thermal-transfer printing, and stretching them onto frames, which stretches and distorts the images, and then presenting the resulting images in urban spaces, which are then photographed and transfer printed again. The core images in Red Powder and Chamber are a person reading a Wolfgang Tillmans catalogue, and the user interface of Photoshop, which have been placed on a countertop and atop a construction barrier. As the title suggests, Red Powder and Chamber echoes the widespread revision and beautification of images in modern life, and alludes to the layered logic embedded in this image manipulation.

熊佳翔(生于1991年,中国上海)的创作专注于图像装置混合媒介,长期调研图像生产的条件以及其影响。他的作品与艺术史重要作品产生对话关系,并将自己的想法与历史中重要的艺术家之理念相结合的同时,又相当个人化地与其对冲并付诸实践。

熊佳翔在创作中标志性地以日常用品中的布料为主要媒材,旨在触发集体、个人记忆与社会历史,关注身体、虚拟空间和物质现实的生成关系,考察流行文化、生活的身体性、日常性和景观化等文化现象的同时深入挖掘中国传统山水与当代生活的关系,呈现了当代人们生活中的矛盾困境。他的作品隐喻且捕捉着在当代社会中所存在的由于全球化所裹挟的“现代性的流动”,反对全球化带来的普遍性。熊佳翔以一种飘逸、动态的叙事方法描述世界,以及自我持有的虚拟主动性来创造图像,创造一种和世界新的感性联系。在他看来,图像之间产生的“断裂”是存放诗意的地方。

熊佳翔于2018年获得德国不莱梅艺术学院自由艺术绘画专业硕士学位。艺术家目前在北京生活和工作。

Xiong Jiaxiang (b.1991, Shanghai, China) focuses on image installation with mixed media. He has long investigated the conditions of image production and its impact. His works are always in dialogue with important works in the history of art. He combines his thoughts with the ideas of important artists in history, but quite personally and stubbornly contradicts them and puts them into practice.

Fabric-based everyday items are the symbol of Xiong’s practice. They are used to trigger collective and personal memory and social history, put attention on and capture the generation of the body, virtual and reality. His works present the contradictory dilemma in contemporary people's life and examine cultural phenomena such as pop culture and the physical nature, everyday nature, and landscape of life. They are metaphors for and capture the "flow of modernity" that exist in contemporary society because of the globalization of capital, and oppose the abstract universality brought by globalization. Xiong Jiaxiang uses an elegant and dynamic narrative method to describe the world, as well as the virtual initiative he holds in himself to create images, creating a universal and new emotional connection with the world. In his view, the "rupture" between the images is the place where poetry is stored.

Xiong Jiaxiang received his MFA in 2018 from the University of the Arts Bremen. The artist currently lives and works in Beijing.
