On October 26th, in the third session of our talk series “The Female Gaze of Women Filmmakers", we’re honored to invite the senior Norwegian filmmaker Mona J. Hoel to discuss with us the female gaze through "Auteur Film" creation. Through her film extracts, she will share with us her film creations, the “Dogma 95” film movement in which she participated, her career path and professional experience, especially how to write, direct, and produce simultaneously as a woman filmmaker, in order to create her own art in the film industry.

Mona Johanne Hoel is a Norwegian director, screenwriter, and producer. She studied photography in New York from 1982-1985, while pursuing her theatre studies at the University of Oslo. She then studied film directing at the Dramatic Institute (Dramatiska Institute) in Stockholm, from 1986-1989, where her litter had Ingmar Bergman as a mentor.Mona Johanne Hoel 是挪威导演、编剧和制片人。1982-1985 年她在纽约学习摄影，同时在奥斯陆大学攻读戏剧学。 1986年至1989年，她在瑞典斯德哥尔摩戏剧学院（Dramatiska Institute）学习电影导演，期间受到过著名电影大师英格玛·伯格曼（Ingmar Bergman）的指导。Mona directed her first full-length feature film “At Ease” in 1995, and has since written, directed, and produced numerous price-winning films, including 5 feature films. Her 2nd full-length feature film “Når Nettene Blir Lange / Cabin Fever” was released in 2000 and is the first and only Norwegian Dogma film. Her 3rd full-length feature film “Clorox, Ammonia and Coffee” won the main award at Mannheim-Heidelberg International Film Festival 2005, and participated in the prestigious New Directors / New Film Festival MoMA, in New York 2005. “Are you leaving already?” her 4th full-length feature film, participated in the Gothenburg International Film Festival 2020. Her 5th full-length feature film “Night” will be released in the competition at the Black Nights Film Festival in Tallinn, in November 2022. Currently, she´s developing her 6th full-length feature film script “The man who was born in the land where work was God”, and the full-length youth film “The Warriors’ heart” by screenwriter and director Marianne Ulrichsen.

Mona J. Hoel is also the owner and managing director of the production company “Freedom From Fear”. She produced the full-length feature debut “The land is my heart” by Sami screenwriter and director Sara Margrethe Oskal, and is currently in postproduction.
Mona J. Hoel 还是制作公司“Freedom From Fear”的创始人和总经理。她制作了萨米(北欧原住民族) 编剧兼导演萨拉·玛格丽特·奥斯卡尔的长篇处女作《土地是我的心》，该片目前正在后期制作中。
