馆藏中国是“南山供秀”平台根据平时收集的各博物馆官网资料而整理的专题内容,主要以分享为主,对内容新老不做辨伪。

本期分享美国哈佛艺术博物馆(Harvard Art Museums)收藏的部分中国金铜造像。美国哈佛艺术博物馆是一座隶属于哈佛大学的艺术博物馆,由三座博物馆及四座研究中心所组成,其中三座博物馆为:福格艺术博物馆(建立于1895年)、莱辛格博物馆(建立于1903年)及萨克勒博物馆(建立于1985年);另四座研究中心为:萨第斯考古勘探研究中心(成立于1958)、现代艺术技术研究中心(成立于2002年)、哈佛艺术博物馆档案库及斯特劳斯保护技术研究中心(成立于1928年)。这三座博物馆于1983年时整合为一个机构,最初命名为哈佛大学艺术博物馆。在2008年时,将大学二字从机构名称中移除而成现在的名称:哈佛艺术博物馆。

哈佛艺术博物馆全新结合,由伦佐·皮亚诺建筑工坊(Renzo Piano Building Workshop)设计。剑桥昆西街32号的博物馆标志性建筑的翻新和扩建,使这三个博物馆及其藏品首次在同一个屋檐下,邀请学生,教师,学者和公众参与,成为世界上最伟大的机构之一。

Inscriptions and Marks:
inscription: The inscription may be transcribed as: Renshou ernian suizi renxu eryue jiyou shuo eryue bari XX daomin Yan Huiluo wei nu zao Tianjun yiqu qishi fumu jusheng fumu jufa Tiandao [Note: the two chracters indicated by "XX" are unclear; they may refer to Yan Huiluo's birthplace.]
The inscription may be translated as: On the eighth day, second month, second year, of the Renshou era [i.e., AD 601-604; of the Sui-dynasty Emperor Wendi (r.590-604)], XX Daoist Yan Huiluo made this image of the Celestial Worthy for his daughter, for seven generations of fathers and mothers, and for the father and mother who gave birth to him. May they all manifest the Heavenly Way.
Note: Inscription is not inlaid, but in order to make the inscription stand out during photography at Sotheby's a white substance (talcum powder?) was inserted.
