
当地村民与莫高窟第328窟彩塑供养菩萨像
1924年1月,福格第一次中国探险队的华尔纳(Langdon Warner)单枪匹马来到敦煌莫高窟,他用胶水粘取了12块壁画,同时搬走了一尊唐代的精美塑像。加上探险队在甘肃泾川所获几件石刻以及在西安获取的碑刻拓本,福格艺术博物馆馆长福布斯认为首次探险队旗开得胜。
