编者按
《通明》之“祝福”系列的首轮推送以现场之作品为主,不同程度和角度地触及了艺术家及其志业等问题。作为我们“精神的头骨”,在当代主流社会生产系统下,人的劳动及其制品,在某种程度上,构成了其解放性志业的,不可化约的坚硬的现实。无论是否是“现实主义”的,这都是存在的现实之硬核。本期推送参与《通明》项目展览的林延老师的分别创作于2018年、2020年和2021年的若干系列的作品的现场。自上个世纪八十年代末以来至今,不管其形态如何变迁,跨越不同文化的,媒介材料和符号的矛盾统一体始终贯穿林延老师的创作现实。如同在通明现场循环放映的动作和影像作品《2020年的日子》那样,作品及其展示将这一现实不断召唤到现场,一遍又一遍。艺术制作和展示一刻不停地搬运着时间和空间。本期推送同时链接的包括艺术家访谈《林延:三城记》在内的若干篇相关回忆文字,也为我们大致为我们唤起和勾勒了三代艺术家跨世纪和穿越亚欧和北美大陆的现实。本期推送的文本均仅带代表相关作者和机构的自身观点,也在此一并致谢。其他关于作者和作品的文本除特别标注外,均为编者所加。

关于本期艺术家 About the participant
林延,现居纽约布鲁克林。林延以宣纸为主要媒材,创造出具有建筑性格的装置和绘画雕塑。宣纸不再只能是平面绘画的载体,而能被塑造为极富重量感和层次感的形态。将空间和建筑因素与作品交融,林延以十几年来创造积累的宣纸独有的视觉语汇,制作了许多大型的现地装置,作品庞大的视觉形象与其轻巧的重量、触感形成微妙对比。在包罗万象的当代艺术中,林延以最古老简朴的材料,通过与各种空间合作,激发我们对环境、文化、历史不同的思考。林延1961年出生于中国北京,中央美院油画系毕业后,1985年前往巴黎美院绘画材料研究室进修,1989年宾州布鲁斯堡大学视觉艺术系取得硕士学位,近期重要个展包括:《林延:反映》,上海狮语画廊,上海(2018),《林延:门道》,否画廊,纽约(2017)等。作品获纽约德意志银行、上海龙美术馆、北京中国美术馆、澳大利亚白兔美术馆等机构收藏。Lin Yan, with xuan paper as her major material, creates installations and sculpture paintings equipped with architectural characters. In her hands, xuan paper is not merely the submissive medium of painting; rather, it can be shaped to possess weight and layers of its own. Also interested in spatial and architectural forms, LIN has created many large site-specific installations lately. These works sustain the subtle contrast between their massive appearance and their lightweight and feel. In the kaleidoscopic world of contemporary art, LIN seizes the oldest and modest material to unfold her everlasting affection for her surroundings, culture, and history. LIN was born in Beijing, China. After graduating from The Central Academy of Fine Arts, LIN pursued further studies at L’École National Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1985. Then, she obtained her master’s degree from the Department of Art Studio at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, USA. in 1989. Her most recent solo exhibitions include: “Lin Yan: Inverted Shadow” at Leo gallery in Shanghai(2018), “Lin Yan : Gateway” at Fou gallery in Brooklyn(2017). Her works are collected by the Deutsche Bank in New York, Long Museum in Shanghai, National Art Museum of China in Beijing and White Rabbit Gallery in Sydney.
