“旅途”参展艺术家介绍
全新群展“旅途”已于02月25日在索卡艺术北京空间开幕，展览将持续展出至03月26日。
此次展览以“旅途”为题，邀请了六位艺术家展示他们近年的艺术作品。他们以有着丰富的经验，在创作中已慢慢趋于稳定。旅途，作为体验世界的媒介，为他们的创造性表达提供出口。绘画，以一种直接的方式交流，消除了时间屏障的存在。六位艺术家用各自不同的创作面貌去探索艺术的内在含义，踏上永无止境探索的旅途。
本文将介绍参展的其中两位艺术家，章犇和周栋。在旅途中，我们常常穿梭于高楼大厦和名胜古迹之间，感受古典与现代碰撞下的融合。作为权力的象征，摩天大楼彰显了城市现代化的成就和科学技术的飞速发展；作为历史的地标，矗立不倒的古建筑唤起记忆，成为过去、现在和未来的综合体, 像一座座丰碑追忆着人类文明的辉煌。
Journey Exhibiting Artists Introduction
Our latest exhibition Journey is on view until March 26. The exhibition, titled Journey, invited six post-80s artists, including Xu Zhen, Yan Zhancheng, Yang Xun, Zhang Ben, Zheng Mengqiang, and Zhou Dong, to showcase their recent artworks. They have years of practice in painting and thus have slowly established their style. Journey, as a medium for experiencing the world, provides opportunities for creative expression. Painting, as a direct way of communication, eliminates the existence of time barriers. Using painting as the medium to preserve ideas, artists explore the spiritual and philosophical aspects of art, embarking on a journey of never-ending exploration.
This article will introduce two of the artists, Zhang Ben and Zhou Dong. During our journey, we often shuttle between skyscrapers and historic landmarks, feeling the collision and fusion between classical and modern. As a symbol of power, skyscrapers highlight the achievements of urban modernization and the rapid development of science and technology. Whereas historic landmarks, as giant monuments, are the synthesis of past, present, and future. Through the evocation of memory, they recall the glory of human civilizations.
章犇用画笔讲述古老的寓言。他的作品中包含着大量历史宗教隐喻：巴别塔、金山、指南针、历史的钟摆，这些意向被拼凑在一起形成神秘且跨越时空的图像，而这些图像在画面中被构建出新的叙事赋予新的意义。对他来说，“巴别塔是与过往未来连接的一所桥梁，是时间的寓所。”1
章犇作品在“旅途”展览现场
在近年的创作过程中，章犇有计划的游走于世界各地，将旅途中不同地域的文化图景、历史中的经典和当代的碎片熔于一炉，转译为他对当下问题的判断和对未来前景的忧虑。他建构一个充满象征语意的异托邦景观，这些作品所呈现出的隐喻性和象征性，让观者在视觉形象之外产生不断延伸的想象与反思。2

不同于章犇笔下神秘的具有宗教色彩的寓言，周栋的视角一直面向景观，关注个体精神与现实的关系。他善于运用大尺幅具象绘画来记录过去十多年来社会与时代更迭下的变迁。周栋的大部分作品通过现场写生的方式完成，穿梭于车水马龙之中，在嘈杂躁动的声音中捕捉最平凡的生活画面，将时代剧变之下的中国式景观和人们的生存环境放大呈现。

作品是城市的脚步，不论是对小城的记录，还是对钢筋水泥高楼大厦的描绘，这些我们司空见惯的日常情景在他的笔下被赋予了动能。凌厉的笔触穿插在场景的走向中，如厉风如雨丝，又如同建筑本身的记忆痕迹。正如作品标题所说，“无法抓住的定格”和“浅调中的涌动”，周栋想抓住那些矛盾的，隐藏的，无法捕捉的瞬间。

Zhang Ben uses his painting to tell ancient fables. His work contains a wealth of historical and religious metaphors: The tower of Babel, the Golden Hill, the Compass, the Pendulum of history…Those elements are pieced together to form mysterious images that can travel through time, in which new narratives are constructed. For him, the tower of Babel is a bridge that connects the past and the future, a dwelling of time.1
In recent years, Zhang Ben has systematically travelled around the world, fusing the cultural scenes of different regions, the classics of history and the fragments of contemporary times in his travels, translating them into his judgment of current issues and anxiety about prospects. He constructs a heterotopia landscape full of symbolic semantics with the height of intuitive technique and metaphysical depth, and the metaphorical and symbolic nature of these works allows the viewer to imagine and reflect beyond the visual image.2

Unlike the mysterious and religious fable of Zhang Ben's paintings, Zhou Dong's perspective has always been oriented towards the landscape, paying attention to the relationship between individual spirits and reality. He is adept at using large-scale figurative paintings to record the changes in society and the changing times over the past decade. Most of Zhou Dong's works are completed through on-site sketching, sitting in the traffic, capturing the most ordinary life in the noisy and restless sounds, and magnifying the Chinese landscape and people's living environment under the drastic changes of the times.
Artwork is the footsteps of the city, whether they are records of small towns or a depiction of steel and concrete skyscrapers, these everyday scenes that we are used to seeing are given kinetic energy under his paintbrush. The sharp brushstrokes are interspersed in the direction of the scenes, like fierce wind and rain, or like the memory of the building itself. As the title of the works says, "the uncatchable freeze frame" and "Surge in a light tone", Zhou Dong wants to capture those contradictories, hidden and uncatchable moments.

Zhang Ben
1984年生于安徽黄山，本科和研究生均毕业于中央美术学院油画系，2015年获中央美术学博士学位。现任广州美院副教授。章犇的绘画描绘了极具想象力的图景和世界，展现和揭示了他内心世界某种特有的诗性。

Zhang Ben was born in 1984 in Huangshan, Anhui Province, China. He graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts and studied under Mr. Chao Ge at the graduate level and Mr. Zhu Nai Zheng and Mr. Jin Shangyi at the doctoral level. He is currently an associate professor at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts.

周栋
Zhou Dong
1980年生于中国江苏，本科和研究生均毕业于中央美术学院油画系，2021年获中央美术学院艺术学博士学位。他以具象绘画直面当下时代社会的巨变与现实景观，对个体生命、存在以及时间等人类永恒命题进行思考，通过极具张力的个人绘画语言面向现实社会景观并借此探索具象绘画新的可能。

Dong was born in Jiangsu, China in 1980. He graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts with both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. In 2021, he received a doctorate in art from the Central Academy of Fine Arts. He uses figurative painting to face the great changes in the contemporary society and the real landscape, pondering on the eternal propositions of human beings such as individual life, existence, and time. His personal painting language explores the reality of social landscape and explores new possibilities of figurative painting.
