This KeYi Gallery exhibition brings artist Guo Junyou's personal exhibition "Be in a Museum, Like in a Food Market", presenting 18 works by Guo Junyou which showcases Guo Junyou's collage and imagination about daily life.
Guo Junyou's visuals exude a "serious and eerie" aura. The picture frame in the computer operation box on the Red Moon Desert; The urinal in the art museum; A magician who transforms into a living person on stage. Those bizarre scenes seem to be depicted with the most brilliant strokes and colors in this app, but now they are plainly narrated, as if they are as ordinary as visiting a vegetable market in daily life. Guo Junyou said, "These glimmering redefinitions and interpretations bring these previously unrelated distances closer, leading to the establishment of this relationship before creating images.
His works reflet on the traditional art system and doubt about current artistic phenomena. When people enter an art museum, it's like pushing a shopping cart and casually taking photos of their favorite works onto their phones, ready to post positive or negative reviews in the following time. Standing in this theater, everyone is talking about art, but no one is watching the paintings. At this time, the art museum is like a large market, with the only difference being that the "goods" inside are of higher value.
Guo Junyou often has wild thoughts because he believes that any moment in life can bring creative inspiration. The environment, newspapers, and news he was in created images. He peels and recombines the signifier and signified of symbols, distorts the original logical connotation, and arranges the set of extended elements in an disorderly manner. His creative logic is based on deconstructing elements from daily life and reassigning new variables.
Gup Junyou, born in Nantou, Taiwan, in 1998, currently studies Fine Art in National Taiwan University of Arts. Hiswork focuses on daily moments ,adding to ideas full of personal thoughts and imagination.
