里希特对于绘画的言说无疑道出了无数画者对于绘画信仰的心声。从远古人类在岩洞留下的杰作到今日万花筒般的当代艺术,绘画走过无数绚烂历程迎来未来的AI时代,却始终是人类艺术不可舍弃的一种表达,正是源于里希特道出的秘境。艺术家袁海龙也正是在这样一处秘境中寻幽探秘,并在绘画与陶瓷材料的碰撞中寻得更大的创作空间和艺术生命的表达。
旅居德国10余载的艺术家袁海龙 深受德国表现主义的影响,画面中常常充满不可遏制的情感和狂放的笔触却少有德国表现主义的阴郁与紧张,这或得益于袁海龙艺术的另一出处,便是其师承大家黄永玉先生。我们不难发现袁海龙作品中透入出的真诚质朴的表达和自在洒脱之气与先生的一脉相承。

东西文化的浸淫与艺术表达的自由追求使得袁海龙始终在寻求艺术的更大突破,陶瓷成为其打开更广阔的抽象绘画表达的一个重要媒介。抛开对陶瓷所有传统概念里的想象,作为一种纯粹艺术表达的媒介,陶瓷从上个世纪以来已从丰塔纳、高更、毕加索、米罗之手落到当代艺术家的手中,在格里森·佩里、杰夫·昆斯、朱迪·芝加哥、刘建华、艾未未、方力钧、蔡国强等一众艺术家的创作中不断获得技术上的解脱。和所有传统主流艺术媒介不同的是,恰恰是这一长期处于手工艺领域的陶瓷因其全世界共生性文化遗产的特质而具备不同文化对其自然而生的认同。恰恰是这一特质吸引了艺术家袁海龙,将其变为他笔下立体的画布,既结合陶瓷的釉料特质呈现耳目一新的陶瓷色彩肌理表达,又不拘一格地突破工艺局限保有写意的挥洒自如,画面时而有山河壮丽、黄河入海之势,时而似曼妙舞者轻盈优美,既有着夸张的表现又不乏诗意情怀。袁海龙将其早期的抽象绘画变成了一个可行可游的绘画之林,行走在袁海龙的瓷瓶间,绚烂的色彩结合陶瓷迷离的光泽有如穿行在一个艺术家制造的幻境。

本次展览集中了袁海龙近两年创作的70余件(幅)陶瓷和架上绘画作品,从平面到立体的自如转换,陶瓷、琉璃、木头的材料嫁接和融贯中西的语言表达,我们看到袁海龙不仅在陶瓷媒介上完成了从“技艺”“工艺”到“艺术”的范式转换,也将绘画语言变成了一种具有空间意义上的表达,从而建构了一个艺术家“唤起幸福感觉”的独特路径。

"Painting is my faith, it is to comfort myself when there are too many secrets and puzzles, and just approaching this state can already evoke a feeling of happiness." -----Gerhard RichterRichter's statement about paintings directly speaks out from the hearts of countless painters who has faith in painting. From the stone paintings traced back to the early human activities to today's kaleidoscopic contemporary art, painting has gone through countless splendid processes to usher in the future AI era, but it has always been an indispensable expression of human art, which originated from the secret realm told by Richter. It is precisely in such a secret place that artist Yuan Hailong seeking, and finds a wider creative space to express an artistic life in the collision of exploring painting and ceramic materials.Artist Yuan Hailong, who has lived in Germany for more than 10 years, is deeply influenced by German expressionism, and his paintings are often filled with irrepressible emotions and wild brushstrokes, but there is little gloom and tension of German expressionism, which may be view as another source of Yuan Hailong's art, which is his mentor, Mr. Huang Yongyu. It is not difficult to find that the sincerity, simplicity and freedom of expression in Yuan Hailong's works are in line with the legendary master artist Huang Yongyu.The immersion of Eastern and Western cultures and the free pursuit of artistic expression have huge impact to Yuan Hailong’s path of seeking greater breakthroughs in art. And ceramics have become an important medium for him to open up a broader way of abstract expressionism painting. Aside from all the traditional concepts of ceramics, as an art medium, ceramics have passing from the hands of Fontana, Paul Gauguin, Picasso and Miró to the hands of contemporary artists since the last century, and have continuously gained technical liberation in the creation of artists such as Grayson Perry, Jeff Koons, Judy Chicago, Liu Jianhua, Ai Weiwei, Fang Lijun, Cai Guoqiang and so on. Unlike all traditional mainstream art media, ceramics have been in the field of craftsmanship for long time that has acquired a natural identity of different cultures due to its characteristics of a symbiotic cultural heritage around the world. Yuan Hailong is precisely turning this characteristic nature into a three-dimensional canvas, which not only combines the glaze colors of ceramics to present a refreshing expression of texture, but also breaks through the limitations of craftsmanship to maintain the freedom of freehand brush works. The images sometimes has the power magnificence of mountains and rivers, the Yellow River enters the sea, and sometimes looks like a graceful dancer light and beautiful, with both exaggerated performance and poetic feelings. Yuan Hailong transformed his early abstract paintings into a forest of viable paintings, walking through Yuan Hailong's porcelain vases, the brilliant colors combined with the mysterious luster of ceramics are like walking through an illustrated wonderland created by the artist.This exhibition concentrates artist’s recent created 70 pieces of ceramics and paintings. The free conversion from plane space to three-dimensional, the grafting of ceramics, glass, wooden materials and the fusion of Chinese and Western cultural expression, Yuan Hailong is not only completed the paradigm transformation from ‘skill’ and ‘craft’ to ‘fine art’ through the clay, glaze and firing, but also turned the painting language into spatial meaning expression, thus constructing a unique path for himself as an artist to ‘evoke a feeling of happiness’.
