逸空间荣幸地宣布参加2023年上海廿一当代艺术博览会，在展位E1-37呈现艺术家王玮珏的个展「SHUT UP!」，在王玮珏的艺术实践中，她选择羊毛纤维作为主要的创作媒介，通过装置或平面的艺术形式，探讨女性性别角色中权利的拥有与缺失。这些作品看似甜美、柔软，而内在则充满了羊毛毡针毡制作过程中的暴力痕迹。她的作品以这种冲突作为基础，揭示了那些隐匿于平静、美好表面之下的冲突与斗争。王玮珏的艺术创作并非只是对自身作为女性生活经验的探索与反思，更是对社会对女性身体的期待和刻板印象的质疑与挑战。

East Gallery is honored to announce its participation in the 2023 ART021, showcasing the artist Wang Weijue‘s solo exhibition "SHUT UP!" In her artistic practice, Wang Weijue employs needle-felting as her primary medium. Through installations and two-dimensional artworks, she delves into the dynamics of power within the context of women's roles in society. These creations may initially exude a surface sweetness and softness, but upon closer examination, they reveal the hidden imprints of violence inherent in the wool felting process.Underlying this conflict, Wang Weijue's art uncovers the concealed struggles and conflicts that lie beneath serene and aesthetically pleasing exteriors. Her work is not confined to personal exploration but extends to challenging and questioning societal expectations and stereotypes associated with women's bodies.

女性在社会以及亲密关系中的自我表达常常会伴随着一定的困扰。在面临很多结构性的问题时，仿佛只有沉默和隐忍，压抑着感受和需求，才能塑造出一个传统价值体系中符合具有奉献和牺牲精神的女性角色。在羊毛毡系列作品“Said”中，艺术家王玮珏通过将女性肖像中的嘴变为镂空来表达女性无处言说的关于刻板性别角色的呐喊。在这个羊毛毡针毡系列作品中，王玮珏没有选择展现羊毛毡创作的针刺面，而选择展现其针刺的背面，那些被针带出的羊毛，亦如温顺却无声的呐喊，在框架和规则中，寻找着表达与感知的平衡。

The self-expression of women in both society and intimate relationships often accompanies a unique set of challenges. When faced with numerous structural issues, it can feel as though silence and endurance are the only options, leading to the suppression of emotions and needs. This is done in order to fit into a traditional value system that aligns with the role of women characterized by notions of devotion and sacrifice.In the series “Said,”(2023) featuring needle felted artworks, artist Weijue Wang portrays the unspoken outcry against ingrained gender roles by ingeniously hollowing out the mouths of female portraits. Through this artistic approach, Weijue captures the voicelessness experienced by women.Within the context of this wool felt needle felting series, Wang Weijue deliberately chooses to unveil the reverse side of felting rather than emphasizing the needle-pierced surface of the wool felt. This perspective reveals the wool drawn out by the needles, resembling a gentle yet resounding silent plea. This artwork encapsulates the pursuit of equilibrium between expression and perception, all within the confines of societal frameworks and established norms.

王玮珏，1993年出生于南京。2015年获美国圣约翰文理学院学士学位，2017年获美国旧金山艺术学院纯艺术专业硕士学位。
