1. 陈作:“林中造屋” | Chen Zuo: The Unbeatable Winter

艺术家陈作(1990年生于湖南)首次个展“林中造屋”主要展出了陈作过去三年在顺义罗马湖艺术区的创作,并藉此梳理、呈现了他自2016年以来的创作路径与方法。展览标题“林中造屋”囊括了本次展览的线索,抑或是一种关于艺术家自身创作经验的投射。
The Unbeatable Winter, the very first solo exhibition of Chen Zuo (b. 1990, Hunan, China). The exhibition presented works the artist created over the past three years at the Roma Lake art district in Beijing, and will sift through the artist’s creative trajectory and methodology since 2016. The exhibition titled The Unbeatable Winter was the thread that ran through the exhibition, as well as a projection of the artist’s creative experience.

2. 蔡东东:“脱靶” | Cai Dongdong: Miss the Target

麦勒画廊和光社影像中心合作推出了艺术家蔡东东(1978年生)的个展“脱靶”,展览于北京光社影像中心举办。“基于现成照片的再创作”一直以来都是蔡东东的主要手法,他从视觉文化的角度把“摄影”带入了图像史或制图史的问题场域,讨论有关呈现的呈现、有关观看的权力等问题。展览选取了蔡东东近年来最具代表性的摄影和装置作品。在他的创作中,宏大的历史降维到个体的视角之中,故事的走向在举重若轻的破坏中被悄然改道,图像的意图在灵光乍现的错位中被有机重组,但令人会心的并不只是其作品中的机巧与幽默,更是其传递出的与几代人鲜活的生命史共振交融的感动。
Galerie Urs Meile and Light Society are pleased to announce Miss the Target, solo exhibition of Cai Dongdong (b. 1978), on view at Light Society’s location in Beijing. Cai Dongdong’s approach has always been “a reworking based on readymade photographs.” He introduces “photography” into the intricate, problematic field of image history or image-making history, attempting to complicate and discuss issues related to the essence of presentation and the power dynamic of viewing. This exhibition included some of the most iconic photographs and installations from Cai Dongdong’s recent oeuvre. In his art, the grand narrative of history is demoted to an individualist perspective, the trajectory of the story quietly distorted by serial disruptions, and the intent of the image organically repurposed by displacements. The wit and humor in his works are not the only emotive qualities they possess, but the vivid spirit that aims to mingle with the complex history of generations.

3. 张雪瑞:“物静光时” | Zhang Xuerui: In Search of Lost Time

张雪瑞的艺术创作常在有意地自我限定下,建立起一种独特的工作逻辑。对“物”、“物质”、“物性”的探讨,指向着追溯时间的基调。以装置、绘画等不同媒介为载体,她借助对物的表征阐释、对物与他者及自身关系的梳理,都是将作品视为重要的言说对象、生命景观,以承载她在个体经验和社会关系中的历史、记忆、当下与未来。
Zhang Xuerui's artistic practice seeks to establish unique logic and methods of artmaking by intentionally setting up various constraints. Her exploration of objects, matter, and materiality underscores an intention to trace transience and temporal modality. By adopting artistic media from painting to sculpture and installation, Zhang uses objects and painting methods to reflect on relationships between the self and others. She conceives her artworks as a conduit of artistic discourse and life spectacles where one discovers history, memories, present, and future.

4. 王兴伟:“恋爱砖家” | Wang Xingwei: Love Expert

艺术家王兴伟(1969年生于沈阳)的最新个展“恋爱砖家”呈现了王兴伟近年来的最新主题创作,展览特邀田军提供展览设计,极简的展陈更彰显出作品的轻松、明快和炽热。展览延续了艺术家一贯以来对于场景的娴熟编排,以及运用替换、夸张、引用、指代、双关等手法进行的持续而深入的探索。
The latest solo exhibition of Wang Xingwei (b. 1969, Shenyang) , titled Love Expert, showcased Wang Xingwei’s thematic creations in recent years, coupled with a minimalist display that aimed to emphasize the nonchalance, playfulness, and fervor that populated his works. We specially invite Tian Jun to design the exhibition. The works presented here continue the artist’s signature compositional dexterity, as well as his relentless and extensive explorations of techniques including substitution, exaggeration, quotation, reference, and wordplay.

5. 王兴伟:“东方贵族” | Wang Xingwei: Oriental Nobility

2023年8月24日,王兴伟在麦勒画廊北京的展览“恋爱砖家”开幕,同时开始的还有一场不对公众开放的内部观摩,在离798艺术区不远的一个产业园的6号仓库,这个展示部分的名称是“东方贵族”,这一部分对参观者的要求是不可以在展厅内拍照。
6. 邱世华:“自然玄览” | Qiu Shihua: Sanctuary

在当代艺术领域,邱世华(1940年出生于中国四川资中)是充满“谜”之色彩的人物。邱世华的绘画作品是他个人生活经历的反思,更是深层冥想的产物,也是他从生命的体验与挣扎中寻找到的庇护所。他的展览更像是一次又一次的朝圣,而不是常规的艺术展,因为常规的数字印刷和传播以及呈现方式并不适合他独特的创作方法。当下的艺术创作正日渐被市场驱动,艺术教育也变得更趋流线作业,而邱世华的作品正与这些潮流背道而驰,并提醒着我们将艺术视为庇护所的持久力量。他的绘画挑战了我们的传统认知,将我们引向对于艺术思考的另一个维度——超越时间、拒绝分类,最终得以成为艺术家和观众共同的庇护所。他展示了即使是在一个可能与传统渐行渐远的当代世界中对于艺初心的坚守。
Qiu Shihua (b.1940 in Zizhong, China) stands as an enigmatic figure in the world of contemporary art. Qiu Shihua’s paintings are not to be understood in the traditional sense of the word. They are a reflection of his life experiences, a product of his deep meditation, and a refuge from the struggles that have marked his existence. His exhibitions became a pilgrimage rather than a typical art show, as the conventional methods of digital distribution and presentation simply do not align with his unique approach. In a world increasingly influenced by market-driven art production and streamlined art education, Qiu Shihua’s work stands as a symbol of detachment from these trends and serves as a reminder of the enduring power of art as a sanctuary. His paintings challenge our perceptions and beckon us to contemplate a different dimension of art—one that transcends time, defies classification, and ultimately becomes a refuge for the artist and the audience alike. His legacy lies in his unwavering commitment to the original idea of art as a refuge, even in a contemporary world presumably detached from its roots.

麦勒画廊卢塞恩部此次主要展出的是中国艺术家邱世华(1940年出生于中国四川资中)自1997年以来创作的尺幅各异的油画作品。观众一眼望去,看似单色的白色画布上,细细端详后却逐渐显露出独特的风景画面。
The focus of this exhibition at Galerie Urs Meile Luzern was exclusively on the oil paintings of Chinese artist Qiu Shihua (*1940, in Zizhong, Sichuan Province, China). On display are works in various formats, created since 1997. The viewer is confronted with, at first glance, almost monochrome white canvases - on which unique landscapes are revealed.
曹雨(1988年生)的创作横跨影像、装置、表演、摄影、雕塑及绘画等诸多媒介,她以其独特的跨学科实践、诙谐讽刺的表达以及尖锐大胆的艺术语言而闻名。获国内外诸多大奖,其作品亦在海内外重要艺术机构展出。她是中国新一代女性艺术家中的领军人物,也是现今亚洲最具影响力的新兴艺术家之一。曹雨的最新个展“I Was Born To Do This”展出了艺术家一系列新作,包括绘画与装置,除了针对艺术在当下时代呈现方式的重新思考与挑战外,亦不乏对中国社会现状和重要历史事件进行回顾与演绎。曹雨不同媒介的作品是透过多棱镜折射出来的哲思品,它们共同呈现出一个扔掉性别、身份和国界的独立个体,充满争议和火星四溅的人生,一个想要改变世界的狂人式的存在。
Born in China in 1988, Cao Yu’s work spans video, installation, performance, photography, sculpture and painting. She is famous for her incisive and bold artistic language, distinctive cross-disciplinary practice, witty and ironic expression. She has won numerous art awards both domestically and internationally, the work have been exhibited globally at important museums and institutions. Cao has been recognized as one of the most influential emerging artists in Asia today, the leading figure of Chinese new generation female artists. The show I Was Born To Do This featured a series of the artist’s most recent and significant works, including paintings and installations, in addition to rethinking and challenging the way how art is presented in the current era, there is also a review and interpretation of the current social situation and important historical events in China. Her works in various media are not just physical objects, but philosophical creations reflected through polygonal prism. They portray an independent individual who has set aside her gender, identity, and national boundaries, living a life full of controversy and explosive creativity, a crazy existence, someone who dreams of changing the world.
麦勒画廊卢塞恩及苏黎世空间分别呈现了高嫣 (Rebekka Steiger) 个展“ma quỷ vô đồng tử - ghosts without pupils”的两个部分。越南语的标题以及两个空间展出的作品都是对艺术家近期旅居越南的见证。她租住在当地社区的一间管屋内,努力学习并使用越南语交流,让自己完全沉浸在未知的环境和文化中。2023 年 4 月,高嫣 (Rebekka Steiger) 从生活和工作了七个月的胡志明市返回瑞士。
对与瑞士同类材料截然不同的绘画材料的发现以及日常生活节奏的体验,包括越南万物有灵论的存在,促使高嫣 (Rebekka Steiger) 的视觉语言和创作方法得以延伸、推进。
Galerie Urs Meile presented ma quỷ vô đồng tử - ghosts without pupils, a solo show in two parts by Rebekka Steiger in Zurich and Lucerne. The Vietnamese title, as well as the works on display in both venues, bear evidence to the artist’s latest residence in Vietnam. In April 2023 Rebekka Steiger returned from Ho Chi Minh City, where she had lived and worked for seven months. Renting a tiny tube-house in a local neighbourhood and making an effort to learn and speak Vietnamese, the artist strived to submerse herself into an unknown surrounding and culture.
The discovery of painting materials very different to their Swiss equivalents as well as the intensity of daily life, including the presence of Vietnamese animism, prompted Steiger’s visual language and working method to evolve yet again.

As an artist who takes photography and installation as his major creative media, re-creating based on ready-made photographs, either taken by himself or collected by him, has always been Cai Dongdong’s main approach. Aiming at the complex cultural aspects behind, he brings “photography” into the intricate, problematic field of the image history or image-making history, discussing issues such as the essence of presentation and the power dynamic of viewing. This exhibition will focus on some of the most iconic photographs and installations from his work series A Game of Photos from recent years.

The exhibition Mirko Baselgia - structura / sistem - “structure / system” in Rhaeto-Romanic - brings together recent works by the artist that explore the diversity of meanings and manifestations of these two concepts. Observing, understanding and reshaping structures and systems, whether material or abstract, visible or hidden, that characterize the natural world and society, form a central aspect of Mirko Baselgia’s artistic practice. The in-depth study of organisms, materials, processes, and physical or conceptual architectures allow him to depict the diversity and complexity of our reality and to explore the mechanisms underlying the interdependencies and tensions between the various entities that inhabit the universe. In his artistic exploration, Baselgia questions his existence and the place he wants to occupy in the world, imagining new ways of living and interacting with all forms of life and the environment around us.

随着位于苏黎世Rämistrasse市中心新空间的开幕,麦勒画廊在2023年6月正式落户于苏黎世,画廊周围环绕着一众画廊与艺术机构。新空间的揭幕展览特别呈现了王兴伟的经典作品,他的艺术创作对新一代艺术家产生了深远的影响与启迪。王兴伟的艺术生涯跨越三十年,他以其独特的艺术风格创建了一个个性鲜明的艺术宇宙。在他的艺术创作中,各种文化元素和符号相互碰撞,经典角色层出不穷,多种艺术风格交织呈现。作为中国最知名的当代画家之一,王兴伟对中西方艺术史中的视觉元素进行了独特的借鉴与挪用。经过多年的探索与实验,王兴伟成功构建了属于自己独特的视觉语言。
With the opening of this new space at Rämistrasse in Zurich in June 2023 Galerie Urs Meile is locating itself in the center of Zurich, between fellow art galleries and institutions. The inauguration show was dedicated to the Chinese painter Wang Xingwei, who continues to inspire and shape young generations today. In the three decades of his mature output, Wang Xingwei has created an artistic universe all his own, where references collide, characters recur, and styles proliferate, all articulated in a deliciously skillful range of styles. Regarded as one of China's most mature and wide-ranging contemporary painters, Wang Xingwei’s irreverent appropriation of visual references from both Chinese and Western art history has been a topic in his work since the beginning of his career. Years of exploring and experimenting with these references allowed him to build up his very own visual vocabulary.
2. 高嫣 / Rebekka Steiger: ma quỷ vô đồng tử - ghosts without pupils

麦勒画廊卢塞恩及苏黎世空间分别呈现了高嫣(Rebekka Steiger)个展“ma quỷ vô đồng tử - ghosts without pupils”的两个部分。越南语的标题以及两个空间展出的作品都是对艺术家近期旅居越南的见证。她租住在当地社区的一间管屋内,努力学习并使用越南语交流,让自己完全沉浸在未知的环境和文化中。2023年4月,高嫣(Rebekka Steiger)从生活和工作了七个月的胡志明市返回瑞士。
对与瑞士同类材料截然不同的绘画材料的发现以及日常生活节奏的体验,包括越南万物有灵论的存在,促使高嫣(Rebekka Steiger)的视觉语言和创作方法得以延伸、推进。

3. 马里昂·巴鲁克 / Marion Baruch

马里昂·巴鲁克于1929年出生在罗马尼亚的蒂米什瓦拉镇。多年来,她曾居住于以色列、意大利、英国和法国,最终定居在意大利靠近时尚之都米兰的加拉拉特小镇。她所居住过的各种社会和文化环境,以及她对不同语言的深入涉猎,都在她的作品中得到了体现(马里昂·巴鲁赫会的语言包括罗马尼亚语、匈牙利语、德语、法语、英语、意大利语以及以色列的语言伊维特)。
Born in 1929 in the Romanian town of Timișoara, Marion Baruch went through numerous changes of residence over the years, from Israel to Italy, England, and France, until she finally settled in Gallarate, an Italian town in close proximity to the fashion capital of Milan. Social and cultural influences of her various habitats, as well as her deep involvement with different languages – Marion Baruch speaks Romanian, Hungarian, German, French, English Italian and Iwrit – the language of Israel – are reflected in her work.
