不止是书，还能是？

“中间实践”是中间美术馆于2017年成立的特别项目，是一个以多种形式的艺术出版为主要内容的小型展览系列。它以中间美术馆一层的书架和通道为展区，与中间美术馆主展厅的展览平行，支持和鼓励艺术实践的实验性、过程性和思想性，不拘泥于以作品作为唯一的创作结果。出版物作为可以广泛传播、保存并反复翻阅的长效媒介，充满艺术表达与展示的灵活性，容量和能量的潜质无限。曾经，龙鳞装、连环画、手翻书等多变的呈现形式饱含书籍创作者的创意巧思。自20世纪60年代以来，随着观念艺术的蓬勃发展，艺术书籍和印刷品更成为艺术家青睐有加的创作手段和传播媒介。直至今日，印刷品和艺术家书已经是构成艺术实践的重要内容之一。在充满挑战的全球化时代中，艺术书籍与印刷品更成为创建连接的鸿雁。（报名方式见文末）

七年来，“中间实践”已经举办了12期展览，先后邀请了Printed Matter, Inc.、李路明、X Artists' Books (XAB)、假杂志、王璜生、《Yishu》、Afterall、89books、“漂流书包”等个人、组织或机构分享他们的学术和艺术生产，包括但不限于研究艺术史的系列丛书，具有实验性的手绘、摄影、编辑、装订等具体的作品案例，拓展了人们对艺术出版物的认知。

在展览期间中，我们也随展举办线上座谈、采访交流与线下工作坊，使展览内容以不止于书的形式，引发公众参与阅读和讨论，让人们有机会参与到书的“续写“之中。这一空间始终保持一种新鲜、活跃的状态，与大家的日常生活有机地融合在一起，与馆内外的社群甚至遥远的朋友产生联系。

在刚刚开幕的第十三期展览“虚时而行”、正在筹备的第十四期展览之后，第十五期“中间实践”将开放给世界各地的策展人、研究者、出版人、艺术家和艺术领域的实践者。我们邀请你阅读往期展览的资料，理解“中间实践”项目的意义，与我们一同思考“不止是书，还能是？”这一设问。

Not Just Books, What Else?

Inside-Out Practice is a unique project established by the Inside-Out Art Museum in 2017, a small-scale exhibition series focused on various forms of artistic publishing practice. It takes up the bookshelves and passages of the ground floor of the Inside-Out Art Museum, parallel to the exhibitions in the main museum gallery. Inside-Out Practice supports and encourages experimental, process-based, and thought-provoking nature of art practice, which is not limited to artworks as the sole result of creation. Publications, as long-lasting media that can be widely disseminated, preserved, and repeatedly used, offer a vast range of artistic expressions and presentations. Previously, the varied formats of booking-making, such as dragon scale binding, comic strips, and flip books, were full of creative ingenuity of book makers. With the rise of conceptual art in the 1960s, art books and prints have been a popular means of artistic expression and communication. It continues to be an essential part of contemporary art practice today. In this challenging period of globalization, art books and printed matters have become bridges that create connections.（Scroll down for application info）

Over the past seven years, Inside-Out Practice has organized 12 exhibitions, inviting Printed Matter, Inc., Li Luming, X Artists' Books (XAB), JIAZAZHI(JZZP), Wang Huangsheng, Yishu, Afterall, 89books,Drifting schoolbag and other individuals, publishing bodies, or institutions to share their academic and artistic publications, including but not limited to series of books on art history, experimental hand-drawn, photographic, edited, and bound books, expanding general perceptions of art publications.

During each exhibition, we have also organized online talks, interviews, and offline workshops to further expand the content of each exhibition, encouraging the public to participate in reading and discussion, thus contributing to the "rewriting" of the books. This space is always active and full of dynamism, organically engaging with communities both inside and outside the museum and friends from afar.

Following the just-opened 13th exhibition Waste Time to Do Things and the 14th exhibition currently under preparation, the future editions of Inside-Out Practice exhibition will be open to curators, scholars, publishers, artists, and art practitioners worldwide. We invite you to read the materials from previous exhibitions, unpack the meaning of the Inside-Out Practice, and ask the question of “Not Just Books, What Else?”

申请材料要求：

1、候选人介绍表（请扫描下方二维码下载）

2、策展方案（包括展间活动的构想，限2000字以内）

3、作品清单、所需材料及预算表（不限制式，尽量详细）
