Elena Sisu, in Medusa's Laughter, says: ‘Women must write themselves: she must write women, and she must lead women to write. Woman has been as rudely driven out of writing as she has been driven away from the body - for the same reasons, according to the same laws, and with the same purposes. Women must write women into texts, into the world and history through their own activities." For Huang Etting, the concern for women and the exploration of women-related topics are important considerations when she creates her works. Women's perspectives and thoughts are also important themes in her artwork, and she conveys messages and self-awareness through objects. Huang Yiting ‘Apple-Detail’ 200x200cm Oil on canvas她说:“我的创作灵感源于对家庭内女性角色的深刻洞察,特别是受到我母亲亲身经历的影响。身为三个孩子的母亲,她自从我们出生后便全身心投入家庭,扮演了传统意义上的家庭主妇角色。在我的视角看来,母亲似乎被家庭、婚姻和育儿这三重无形的枷锁紧紧束缚,个人意识和自我价值在很大程度上被埋没。在我的画作中,头纱象征着婚姻这一仪式,同时也寓示着它如何像一道束缚住女性自由的边界,从而联想到社会文化对女性设定的各种规范与局限。女性的身体及其行为,在广泛的社会与文化语境下,时常遭受压制与制约,这种压力往往导致女性承受痛苦和焦虑。这一系列社会问题的存在并非孤立现象,而是长期历史积淀下的普遍议题。尽管如此,它们绝不是女性应当默默忍受或妥协的对象。通过我的艺术作品,我力求传达出一种力量感,激发观者对女性境遇的关注、尊重与支持,从而促进社会对女性身体自主权与性别平等等议题进行深度反思和积极改变。”?
She says, ‘I was inspired by a deep insight into the role of women within the family, and in particular by my mother's personal experience. As a mother of three, she has devoted herself to the family since we were born, playing the role of a housewife in the traditional sense. From my point of view, mothers seem to be bound by the triple invisible chains of family, marriage and childcare, and their personal consciousness and self-worth are largely buried. In my paintings, the veil symbolises the rite of passage of marriage, but it also signifies how it acts as a boundary that restricts women's freedom, thus evoking the norms and limitations that society and culture place on women. Women's bodies and their behaviours are often subjected to repression and constraints in a wide range of social and cultural contexts, and this pressure often leads to pain and anxiety for women. These social problems are not isolated phenomena, but rather universal issues that have been built up over time. Nevertheless, they are by no means objects that women should tolerate or compromise in silence. Through my artworks, I seek to convey a sense of power that inspires the viewer to pay attention to, respect and support women's situation, thereby promoting deep reflection and positive change in society on issues such as women's bodily autonomy and gender equality."

In the series ‘Apple’, the texture of the skin of the apple is given a symbolic meaning, which maps the stretch marks left on a woman's skin after giving birth, which silently speak of motherhood's dedication and resilience. I have chosen to use a portion of the internal structure of the ‘cut open’ apple as an analogy for the female reproductive system, and through this figurative approach, the viewer will be able to empathise with the inner life force of women. The work uses richer and more emotive colours to depict and celebrate the changes in the female body, aiming to positively acknowledge the great contributions and sacrifices made by women in the process of reproducing their offspring. The apple in the image is not perfect, but rather focuses on the ‘ripe or even rotten’ part (suggesting the passage of time and aging), which reveals a microcosmic world like the universe of stars, constantly nurturing the power of new life.

Huang Yiting ‘Apple-Detail’ 90x120cm Oil on canvas尽管生育过程和岁月流转会在女性身体上留下不可逆转的痕迹,但这并不是衰败或缺陷的体现,相反,它是另一种形态的美,是对生命的崇敬与新生循环的永恒赞歌。通过这样的艺术化呈现,我希望打破社会对女性身体及年龄偏见的认知,倡导更加尊重并欣赏女性因生育而展现出的独特魅力与价值。Although the process of childbearing and the passage of time will leave irreversible traces on women's bodies, it is not a reflection of decay or defects; on the contrary, it is another form of beauty, an eternal hymn of reverence for life and the cycle of renewal. Through this artistic presentation, I hope to break down society's prejudice against women's bodies and age, and advocate greater respect and appreciation for the unique charm and value of women's fertility.

In her recent works, Eva Wong has created a series of imaginary creature images by incorporating plants and animals that she has personally raised and cared for, in order to construct a utopian fantasy world. These works profoundly embody the principles of equality and respect, utilising surreal techniques to transform real flora and fauna into dream-like characters, building a bridge between the real and the surreal. Her artistic vision aims to explore and convey a reflection on the inequality in the real world and the value of harmonious coexistence of life, encouraging the viewer to contemplate and value the importance of ecological protection and the dignity of life while immersing themselves in an idealised scenario.

In the end, these elements evolved into a series of new creations that are visually dominated by scenes. This series of works not only continues the artist's insistence on the concept of harmony with nature, but also expresses more clearly the social demand that all forms of life should be treated with equal respect, thus triggering the viewer's attention to and reflection on the issues of ecological ethics and the dignity of life in the real society.

她说:“对于我的作品,我很希望观众完全可以自由解读,在之前的毕业创作展览时我也经常假装自己是观众,在其他观众讨论与解读时在旁边偷偷的听,每个人都有自己解读的角度,非常有意思,这反而可以为我的创作提供灵感与新的角度。所以我非常赞同观众自由解读我的作品。”
She said, ‘For my works, I very much hope that the audience can interpret them freely. During my previous graduation exhibitions, I often pretended to be an audience member and secretly listened to the discussions and interpretations of the other audience members, and it was very interesting to see that everyone had their own interpretations, which, on the contrary, could provide me with inspirations and new perspectives for my creation. So I am very much in favour of free interpretation of my works by the audience."

Q:能分享一下你在《飞地乐园》(作品)创作过程中的思考吗?A:体制化及学术性的正来源于学院教育,对于构建扎实艺术根基是非常重要的。它为我提供了系统性学习绘画技艺与理论知识的平台。学院课程严谨,涵盖了从基础技能到高级美学理念的教学,这种体制化与学术性的特质,既是其教育模式的本质特征,也是确保学生获得全面艺术素养的必要手段。在艺术史上,无论是古典大师们通过学院传承下来的透视法、人体解剖学等基础知识,还是现代艺术教育中对形式语言、色彩理论、艺术思潮的深入探讨,都表明体制化及学术性的创作训练对于艺术家成长的深远影响。对我个人的艺术实践而言,学院教育不仅是掌握绘画技巧的关键途径,更是让我不断磨砺手头功夫以及锤炼视觉表达力。通过大量基础练习,我会更加细致入微地观察自然与生活,将这些观察转化描绘在画布上。这种训练过程让我不仅能以我的视角去再现客观世界,更能借此传达个人的情感体验与哲学思考,也是为现在和未来的艺术创作奠定基础。

A:是的,我的主题一直围绕着女性及自然生物展开,最大的“主题”就是:自由。
Q:你如何确定自己的绘画对象?
A:我无法确定我的绘画对象,我只是在当下发现我最喜欢的人或生物,谁让我最有描述“冲动”我就会以此为主体物。
